Vinturi wine aerator
Discussion
'However, decanting is time consuming, cumbersome, and inconvenient.'
Frankly, bullst. It's far easier to pour wine into a decanter than fumble around in a kitchen draw, find the Vinturi (TM) and treat each glass one by one...
What's more, whilst the Vinturi (TM) may make a difference, oxidation is a process that takes time.

all 5 of us could taste a difference and none of the 5 new which glass had gone through the Vinturi and which one was just out of the bottle.
I've read that four times and it's still contradictory - isn't it?Edited by Simpo Two on Saturday 13th February 20:45
We have one, use it all the time. There is no substitute for the oxidation which occurs over time when decanting, so if we're taking out a whole bottle, we'll decant it a while before we consume.
However, we drink a glass of red a night, generally. Incidentally, the lovely cab that we've stocked up on does very well to rest for quite long periods. In this regard, the vinturi is brilliant, as I'm not going to pre-pour one glass each for my wife and I 2 hours before. Using the vinturi then sticking the cork back in means we don't have stale, previously aerated wine in the bottle for the next day.
The difference is normally plain to see, but is particularly abundant with our 'everyday' wine; 2004 Laurel Glenn Cabernet from Sonoma County. I discovered this when I had a glass from a freshly opened bottle, forgot that I'd left it open for most of the day, and went back to it, and it was sublime.

Must try one of these myself.
Usually I decant in advance and I've seen things like the Vin Clef (http://www.sommelier-on-line.com/c162.html - couldn't find english version, but basically it's a piece of metal you stir the wine with!) and have always been sceptical - but again, never tried.
