I tend to go down that route. Brown off some large 'rough' sausages (the local butcher does some nice, really savoury farmhouse ones), onions or leeks with garlic in butter, julienne carrots, a couple of tins of chopped tomatoes, tin of flagelot beans or the like and some chicken stock, plus a dash of worcestor sauce if you fancy. 30 to 40 minutes on the hob or in the oven and served with some mash and savoy cabbage. Dead simple and very tasty.
