Something for the kids in the morning ....(and adults)
Discussion
Something I started doing a few years ago that has become part of my morning 'ritual'. It sounds like a lot of hard work, but in reality takes only ten minutes to make and I have yet to meet a kid who hasn't liked this ..
It's a good start to the day, protein, EFA's, carbohydrate, it's all in there.
You will need
1 banana, ripe, hard, does not matter
1 apple
1 quince/pear
1 plum
2-3 tablespoons natural yoghurt
small splash fruitjuice
6 to 8 almonds,
6 to 8 pistacios
a few pumpkin seeds in each glass
Grate all the fruit into a bowl, add the yoghurt and the fruit juice. Mix and spoon into glasses.
--- intetlude ---
Now the bit that makes it interesting
Asda, tesco and the like sell frozen fruit, blueberries, cranberries, rasberries.
grapes can be frozen. Buy some sweet black grapes wash and freeze.
Same with strawberries. Wash, dry, slice onto a baking tray covered in good quality clingfilm, cover with some more clingfilm and freeze. When frozen, transfer to a bag and keep. It might surprise you; a little goes a long way.
--- interlude
crush the nuts into a piece of kitchen towel (I keep a small hammer in the kitchen) and sprinkle a small amount into each glass. Add a few frozen strawberry pieces, grapes, cranberries, blueberries to each glass.
(Sell it to the kids like eating pudding in the morning!)
It sounds long and complicated, but it's actually very quick in reality.
