I've just been presented with a small bap, containing a thick slice of tomato, a leaf of lettuce and slice of ham (proper ham). There was no butter/mayo, so by the time I'd removed the offending article, there was no moisture in the sarnie.

Personally, I cannot stand tomato in sandwiches. It's hard to bite through, and if the sandwhich is not extremely fresh, leaves a soggy mess.

Ahhh but it is a fantastic nuclear heat weapon for an unsuspecting recipient of a toasted sandwich containing the offending fruit wink

Yes, but the tomato has to be very thinly sliced and with a little salt on it. Mostly only with cheese though.

Needs to be the right sort of tomato. Some are just large and watery. The kind you want are small, sweet and zingy with flavour.

You're strange though. I don't think your vote should be considered.

Add me to the "never" list, in fact, I can't understand why anyone would choose to eat tomatoes in any form... vile tasting things.

No problem if it is to be eaten immediately. Get the tomatoes out of the fridge in good time, though, or you won't taste them.

Try this:
Thinly sliced tomato on one piece.
Mayonnaise on the other, then
Grind Black pepper onto the Mayo until there is too much of it, then add some more.
Assemble, slice, and eat.

Thinly sliced yes, thick sliced no.

A ham and tomato sandwich is a wonderful thing.

It's when you get the skin caught betweeen you teeth, so when you take the sandwich away from you mouth, it unravels and pulls all the filling out...

thinly sliced, with salt and freshly made with the intention of immediate consumption, yes.

In combination with any other filler, even when all above criteria fulfilled then no.

If intended for future consumption, God No!!!!!!
