three for me, though I never realised that you could (or should?) make it with extra whites/yolks... what kind of result does doing that achieve??
It turns you into an American.
i'd have thought baz's 6 egg omelettes are more likely to do that! wink
Jeez. you hang out in here too?? Got yourself a 4.3 yet?? wink

Three eggs, here.

White crab meat (a can if you must), asparagus on the side, or
That Austrian tubular smoked cheese, broccoli on the side.

you've seen me mate, i'm clearly interested in food! it's the 4.5 i'm hankering after now, but it turns out my kidneys are only worth 8p each, so it's plan B when i work out what it entails!

4 at a minimum for me. I could eat a larger one, but I don't have a pan large enough to properly (by my technique anyway) cook anything more than a 4 egger.

I have been known to do two 4 eggers back to back though. wink

I seem to fit in with the general consensus of three, any bigger and I wouldn't fit my side dishes in. Got to have some chips and whatever is left in the fridge along with it and a beer just to finish off.

Right chaps here's the deal. Olive oil, chopped onions, chopped bacon, red pepper, mushroom all fried up and then smack in a blob of ketchup and a dash of tabasco. Then scrape this lot out onto a plate and add your 3 x eggs into the pan, you won't need anymore oil, then pour back in the filling mix and grate some cheese over the top and finish cooking. Eat with a couple of slices of bread & butter smile

Not bad; dunno 'bout the ketchup and Tabasco tbh.

Why not fresh tom + chilli ?

Yep throw in some cheery toms but you need the ketchup too, it seems to work well when fried!

4 or 5 depending on the size of the eggs, with red onion, mushroom and whatever else is to hand. truffle butter & mild goats cheese is a recent revelation.

I also don't get this 'sides' business. if I'm still hungry I'll make another. I've been known to make 3 when cooking for 2 and sneakily scoff one when she's out of the kitchen & pretend I ruined it.

current OH doesn't like omelettes, which is almost a crime imo.

Between 2-3 depending on the size of the eggs and whether a main meal or brekkie. This is just for one of course. I would use similar in a scrambled egg but with a nice knob of butter, salt, pepper, and a splash of milk.

As for adding an extra yolk and not the white - I fail too see this making any real difference, (especially considering the French water theirs down a bit). I HATE waste and wouldn't consider such a thing unless I was to use the white in another dish.

They're better than miserable toms wink
I tend to use about 4 eggs per omlette depending on size.

1 = snack
2 = breakfast
3 = lunch

however I like mine thin (I do them very quickly in a wok) and then fold in my filling.

Are you me? thumbup Any more than 4 eggs makes it more of a thick spanish affair in my frying pan. Not much of a meal though IMO, one 4 egg omelette is a snack, or a VERY light lunch if filled with cheese and mushrooms yum

Jesus. How big are some of you guys? I'm 6ft2 and 15st or so, and have a decent appetite; but could only really manage a 3-egg affair. Between this and "Photo your meal" thread, I feel like a bloody anorexic...
You can only manage 3 eggs? 3 eggs is less volume than a cup-a-soup... you can't be serious!!
