I do chilli a lot in mine. Also really good for pot roast, brown the meat on the hob, add everything else and whack in the oven. Great for slow cooking too, it really retains the heat. Or a roast chicken, comes out really well too, you don't get the crispy skin but the flavour is immense. It's the modern chicken brick.

How do you pot roast the chicken? I'd like to try this.

I have 2 casserole dishes, and a load of saucepans, which get used daily. The plastic knobs on the lids are heat resistant, so you can use them in the oven, and as said earlier, if you use them instead of a frypan, you reduce the splatter (so less cleaning!).
You will need to get some cleaner (about 4-5 quid) if you use them loads, as I find that food will start to sticking when you get a thick enough burnt-on deposits.

Should be 4-5 quid, and any departments store that sells LC will stock it, ie. Debenhams/John Lewis etc. Or most cookshops (but not Lakeland, who don't do LC).

I had to look up what a chicken brick was but the same idea would work in a casserol dish

You don't pot roast chicken, (since you don't brown it and cook in liquid) but I get a lemon, cut about 4 diagonal slices almost but not quite through it, stuff with thyme or some other woody herb and shove it up its arse.

Tend to slice some onions and root veg, place the chiecken on that, add a big glug of water (about a pint or so) throw in some salt and herb, put lid on and cook for 20 mins per lb. Comes out incredibly moist with a ton of flavour. Strain liquid and make gravy from it.

Buy a decent chicken in the first place though, pigs ear silk purse and all that.

Had a sausage casserole in ours last weekend (can I just say ouch at the cost of the dish - not having bought it I was unaware!! redface) and frequently use for chili. It works well on our hob (induction) as well as in the oven and although I don't like the saucepans (yuss, weak woman) this casserole dish and the griddle are fantastic bits of kit and a must have in my opinion.

As I didn't get any instructions, can I chuck it in the dishwasher? Their own site says they are dishwasher safe

Get that. It's ace.

The 'lid' works very well as a small frying pan, the 'pot' as a pot / casserole dish - anything.

My saucepans are old ones with wood handles, so I was them by hand. And I don't have a dishwasher anymore, so no choice. But you will need to give them a clean to get rid of the build up if you use them daily. I end up doing my main pots a few times a year - using the pots in the oven for slow cooking usually are to blame.

We've got this, it's ace. Got it from the discount store in Livingston and it's wonderful, you can brown your meat in one half, fry your onions in the other then throw together and lose no flavour.

The day I found Le Creuset on sale in Debenhams my poor husband had to leave work early to help me lug it all home. Love it though.
