Sam Smiths are very good.

I prefer Waggledance to Honeydew, but then I find Fullers are hit and miss.

I introduced a friend to Robinsons Old Tom on Saturday and Jennings Snecklifter during the rugby. He was most happy.

I imagine that after a few pints of Snecklifter that your friend will have achieved an advanced state of refreshment, the like of which he's never experienced before.

I'm still waiting for "tactical nuclear penguin" to go on sale in the US.

I won't hold my breath though...

I've had Sam Smith's stuff from the local grocery here in Florida Jimbeaux. Good stuff. I also agree with the Sam Adams brewery. Probably the best mass market brewer in the US. I like the packages they offer around the holidays. You get 12 beers of 4 different types per box.

Not had a Sam Smiths but had many by his uncle's firm, John Smiths.

Sam Adams is good.
Old Tadcaster seems to be the origin. I Sam's second rate to John's? As to Sam Adams, those fellows do beer as a passion before a business, I am a huge fan. You likely don't have access to their specialty brands. I have been enjoying one of their seasonal brews, "Noble Pils".
Noble Pils is very good. I enjoyed a good few last week in Orlando.
I am not sure how long it will be available. I hope it was popular enough to be brought back next year.

Try a Waggledance. It's beer made from honey and water and not much else.
Had a couple of bottles of this recently.

You can't half tell that the brewery got bought out. It's pish now, sadly.
Oh no it isn't.... I had a bottle on Saturday and it was bloody lovely wink
Its not a patch on Fullers' Honeydew
But the OP has to drink it now to see whether CJ or I am right hehe
Well OK, if I must....biggrin

Sam Adams a very good brewery.
I too obtained Sam Smith's from my local grocery. Louisiana's own brewery, Abita, offers "Turbo Dog", a stout very similar to Sam Smith's Oatmeal Stout.

Waggle is much nicer on draught, but its a seasonal beer IIRC.
Know what you mean about Charles Wells altering Youngs beers too. Apparently the regular Bitter is far too malty tasting now.

Speaking of Honey Beers though, i tried some Bartrams Bees Knees at a local beer fest over the weekend and that was hands down the nicest example of the style i've yet had! drink

Sam Smiths pubs are amongst my favourites in London, not only because their Alpine lager is £2.16 but also that the buildings are some of the finest around - see the Princess Louise in Holborn or the Cittie of Yorke just down the road towards Chancery Lane.

This kind fellow has maked all of the Sam Smiths pubs on Google maps:

Was in there on Saturday, extremely nice place, although by the time we left I was somewhat worse for wear.
Thats the one with the really ornate bogs isn't it?

Used to drink the stuff when I was a real ale nut in the 80s and liked it but workmates drink in the Blue Posts off Oxford street as the beer/lager/cider is about half the price and I don't like it so much now.

Nice oldy worldy pub tho'.

I have ordered wine from this site before. The selection varies so you have to keep checking back. Recommended.

[A-Team]If they still make it, if you can find it, and can afford it, then maybe you could drink some Sam Smith's Imperial Russian Stout[/A-Team]

I've not seen it in 20-odd years, but I have tried it. Makes Guinness Export Stout taste like watered-down Murphy's.

my favourite ss pub yet discovered. makes you wonder how some places can justify charging £4.20 for a pint of peroni.
