One of my friends ritually buys a kebab while drunk, picks at it for about 10 seconds, realises it disgusting, closes the pot back up and kicks it as far as he can.

He can kick a kebab further than I can kick a football.

I much prefer pizza to a kebab on the nights out, to be honest.

Used to eat many whilst drunk - they are quite edible (so long as you leave that filthy unhealthy salad out of it).

Is that on Broomfield parade, by KFC/China City (love their crispy chilli beef!), Krazy Chef et al? By Patching Hall Lane?

I'm sat here eating an exceptional example of Britians best post beer food.
It's huge smile Loads of donner meat and slices of chicken that look, and taste, like chicken yikes and properly HOT!!.
Fresh crisp salad, and on a naan bread thumbup
Even if I don't manage it all tonight, it's from one of the few places where it's still good in the morning. No puddles of oil or greace!! I avoid the sauces for this reason as well. Pop the remnants in the microwave for breakfast.
Well done Star, Oxford Rd, Reading.
Any more examples of the best beer food out there?
If you are in Reading then hopefully you have tried the Kebab Van outside The Nob, by the university entrance - great chilli and mint sauce
Christ alive is that van still going and The Nob is still called The Nob! Truely horrible donner meat.

Best kebab in Reading is YBYs on London Road.
I recall back in my student days spending something like £8.00 on the biggest kebab he had there. This was back in 2003 so inflation might affect current values.

About twenty years ago, my best kebab was the "mixed" from (IIRC) The Snack Shack in Lothian Road, Edinburgh.

These days it's the Istanbul Chef, Wellingborough Road, Northampton. Get chatting to the bloke behind the counter about rugby and he'll give you more meat than you can handle (no homo). Lashings of chilli sauce and chilli peppers.

Sounds good - can't beat a bit of chilli to nicely spice things (food) up, nothing worse than bland tasteless food.

Good call. Bath has more than a few good restaurants, yet when I get back there what I really want is a Schwarz burger and a (late night) kebab from Marmaris. thumbup

Marmaris is okay but I've heard very good things about Al Falafel? The kebab van on campus is absolutely vile.

Aladdin's, Cardiff. I'd probably eat there sober.

I guess everywhere has the 'best' kebab, especially if you've had 12 pints of wifebeater before it...

Excessive dousing with mace hot chilli sauce is usually to hide the poor meat that smells like a Greek bloke in a gym and the curled up lettuce. Real chilli sauce and the watery crap they throw on in alot of places are worlds apart.

Best I've had is Iskanders in Dublin. Used to visit over there regularly for work and I had to have at least one every visit.

They also have the wonderfully named Abrakababra over there, but not tried those.
