Easter food for foodies
Discussion
I was wondering what people might be serving up over the next few days? We are missing a lunch tomorrow as we are visiting family in the NW who only eat leaves and pulses and buy things in packets to reheat.
We have plaice fillets tonight, which I will pan fry in seasoned flour with a little butter and lemon. Not sure what we are having with them yet.
I have a lovely chicken which will be jointed and marinated overnight to give us a highly-flavoured, yet quick dinner for our return home tomorrow night. Maybe with some more spiced lentils and a good paratha.
Is it another Christmas-esque dinner for most?

Just picked up a Gressingham duck for tomorrow and realised that is exactly what we had on Christmas day! (did a much larger turkey/ham/pork dinner boxing day too!).
Going to make a bhuna tonight and have few decent beers to wash it down, chilling in the fridge are;
TT Landlord
Blacksheep Square Ale
Blacksheep Riggwelter
York Brewery Centurion Ghost Ale
To be drank in that order so as not to overshadow the taste of the lighter beers
Yes, any excuse for decent food (and drink) here.

Yesterday was leftovers for dinner (chicken and leek bake with mash and gratin dauphinois), but also received our Ocado delivery for the weekend...
Today was Chinese style belly of pork with rice and a dipping sauce. We also have chicken drumsticks and a whole duck to complete the weekend, recipes TBD.

I've got to lose 1/2 a stone (at least) prior to the G'FAW Brecon Blowout, hence today's 'food' consisted of:
1/2 fresh pineapple
1 mini Babybel
30g packet biltong
1 ox tongue sandwich with mustard on sourdough bread
2 gin and diet tonics
Healthy, huh? I'll compensate with a big salad tommorrow...

Big leg of lamb, pan fried with S+P then hacked in half so it fits. Coated with mustard, rosemary and garlic and thrown in the slow cooker. Will be finished off in the oven with the roast veg later. Mmmmm.
lamb for me as well, a shoulder as the dog likes all the off cuts. Andy

Tartiflette plus some vino, followed by 'several' beers. I'm going to hell.....................
I've bought some reblochon for this very purpose, just debating when to make it. I might see if I can use it as a hangover sponge later today... Do it anyway.

cheers, i'll have to ask next time i go in. its one of those massive 'we must take over the world, mwahahahahahaaaa' tesco's so i was surprised not to find it in there.
From your post in my Leeds bars thread can I assume you mean the massive Tesco at Seacroft? It is huuuuuge, but often their selection of more unusual or premium type ingredients is poor.
As is usually the case most of their space is taken up with high volumes of the big sellers. But they are getting better I must admit.
Still have to go to Sainsbury's for my regular supplies of Puy Lentils though lol
We had an epic sunday feast, comprising of:
Champagne & nibbles (choux pastry with comte, salmon toasty things and olives etc)
Foie gras, brioche & Vin de paille (amazing)
Escargot de bourgogne & sancerre
Sabre fish in a white wine, cream and seafood sauce & sancerre
Coq au vin (a proper one) & Aloxe Corton Burgundy
Cheese (Langres, Epoisses, Comte, Chevre, Stinking Bishop (we brought it with us - it went down a treat), Gorgonzola & Emmental) & Cotes du Bourg Bordeaux
Chocolate dessert doodaa & Champagne
THEN
Freshly caught crayfish (my Uncle in law has his own lake, lucky git) in a champagne and creme pure(?) sauce. Delicious doesn't do it justice. These weren't the muddy signal crayfish we eat (or are allowed to eat) in the UK. They were native french crayfish and shockingly good. The sauce - so simple but absolutely perfect.
Finished off with a couple of drams of bunnahabhain 12yo.
Needless to say I was A) stfaced and B) full to bursting.
