So the nice weather is here and suddenly we want to go all alfresco! What's your idea of a perfect picnic for 2?

Depends on who you're with!

A day out with the old man at a racing circuit is usually an unlimited supply of cheese/ham sandwiches, a multipack of cheese and onion Seabrook crisps, a pack of mini sausage rolls, more Clubs than you could possibly eat in a day and all washed down with some cans of pop and bottles of water!

A day out with 'er indoors might be a bit more considered and delicate!

When fishing with the chaps:

Crayfish & smoked salmon cocktail
Homemade sausage rolls
Spearings pork pie
Saucisson
& Sancerre

Similar with the Mrs actually but usually with some kind of provencal rose instead of Sancerre.

ETA:

When the uncle-in-law took me fishing to his lake (for fks sake, I want a lake), he brought along a couple of cool boxes full of charcuterie, beer, champagne & bread. The fishing was naturally secondary.

On a similar note to Bazking however, the chaps and I are off to the BTCC at Oulton this weekend so our picnic will comprise of: beer & crisps probably.

Good call; 'picnic' should be things you can eat when trapped in a car in a downpour...

A quiet secluded spot preferably with lots of hedgerows, bottle of champs, and some Thorntons chocolate body paint. Bobs your uncle, Fanny's yer aunt. thumbup

Not a picnic by any stretch of the imagination, but the stuff on that grill house pit did look awfully good. I'll pass on the 72oz steak with sides though.

Last BH Monday's racing at Castle Combe meant I made a picnic with the following;

M&S mixed picky bites - sausages etc
Tortilla chips and crudites for dipping in Houmous
Homemade salads of potato, olive oil and parsley (other half doesn't like mayo), and another of string beans, asparagus, peas, lemon juice, olive oil and mint

Some of those small pork pies that are more pastry and jelly than pork. Ideally kept crispy cool with some ice packs. Mmmm....
