I am. Just opened a decent Bordeaux.

I must say that the first glass is always the best and then it doesn't really get any better for me.

Any of you lot drinking tonight?

Lefty?

I'm tucking into a glass of the local plonk: Denbies 'Rose Hill'.

I'm a great believer in supporting local farmers - and the vineyard is less than two miles from the house - therefore I have a cast-iron excuse.

Off to the pub for a few jars in a second. Shall be seeing if the beer garden has any space.

My wife is coming home from work in London ridiculously late this evening.

Hence I had a beer earlier in the evening and am now contemplating my second.

Brewdog "Punk IPA".

It is hoppy in the extreme. So hoppy it's like biting down on a lemon - but in a good, beery way!

Later we will share some NZ Sauvignon Blanc with homemade chicken, ham and mushroom pie.

I'll probably sip a brandy during our after dinner TV.

It's my last day at work tomorrow before a two week holiday. I've nothing serious to do.

Life's good.

I've had three days off the booze, just done an hour on the bike and about to cook healthy chicken salad dinner.
Time to crack open the Chablis!

I've been sampling the new Shepherd Neame world cup ale 4-4-2...it's made with 10 varieties of hops apparently, although to these taste buds it's not that hoppy. Wierd...it's not that great tbh, not tasty enough to buy at 'full price' of £1.70 ish but as it's £1 a bottle at LIDL at the moment it'll do.

Mmm nice and not too expensive! And the label is kind of amusing..

"This is not a lowest common denominator beer. This is an aggressive beer. We dont care if you dont like it. We do not merely aspire to the proclaimed heady heights of conformity through neutrality and blandness. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to appreciate the depth, character and quality of this premium craft brewed beer. You probably dont even care that this rebellious little beer contains no preservatives or additives and uses only the finest natural ingredients.

Just go back to drinking your mass marketed, bland, cheaply made watered down lager and close the door behind you"

Quite a nice little bottle for mid-afternoon garden relaxing..

A single can of lager last night after I got home at 10.30 from work.

Now waiting for my car to be ready at 5pm, then foot to the floor to get to the coast in record time before Prosecco by the beach at 7pm biggrin, I've earned that drink.

Yeah, life is good.
After my lunchtime drinking I'll be getting my packing done prior to any indulgence this evening.

Then I'm having a nice St Emilion with a pizza.

Yeah

Currently enjoying a nice cask strength speyside whisky which is chasing down a couple of co-codomol tablets in a vain attempt to make me forget about the cracked rib which is stopping me sleeping properly. Will probably crack open a bottle of cider in a bit to go with my pork & apple sausages and home made potato wedges too.
