Can you beat an afternoon pint??

I'm about to find out.....my home brew is ready.
Granted, the first batch looked and smelt like piss-virtually undrinkable
The second batch was better, far clearer and much more beer like
The third batch was as clear as a pub pint, tasted average
The fourth was great- clear, nice aroma, but the drawback of being fairly lethal- 4 pints and I was away.

So, batch 5. I have leant from previous mistakes, the recipe has been tweaked, it's been stored as it should have been. It's been decanted into old grolsch bottles, sugar added, it's looking clear, slightly fizzy, and I have 18 bottles to drink.

So-
mrs emsman out - check
hammock ready - check
glorious sunshine- check

it's now officially cold home brew time.
Have a happy afternoon everyone

Hammock, sunshine and homebrew? PH tasting party at Emsmans place. I'll bring the BBQ..

If you were an alcoholic you wouldn't be enthusing on PH about afternoon drinking. You'd be too pissed by the afternoon to switch your PC on. Enjoy your day, safe in the knowledge that you're simply a happy pisshead. Like all the best people wink
Permission to print that off and take it with me to the Doctor's.
You are only an alcoholic if you drink more than your Doctor; that's me in the clear then! I think I'll celebrate that fact with an ice cold glass of wine blah

(although by my choice of smilie you maybe of the opinion that I've just got back from the pub, something I could neither confirm or deny biggrin )

The key to drinking in the afternoon and not feel st by 6 is to carry on drinking.

I worked at an advertising agency which still observed the traditional practice of 'summer hours': between May and September, the entire agency would depart to the pub at 1pm on Friday and stay there for the rest of the afternoon.

How civilised is that?

This homebrew is bloody great.
Strong, granted, but 5 bottles so far and no adverse effects.
I think it works out at about 38p a pint*
I will make double the quants next time and send out samples to anyone here who wants to try it??

  • figure doesn't include 'morning after' toilet tissue- or indeed a visit from dynarod.

Actually.
Sorry to repost but it's actually bloody lethal, unless mrs ems has secretly installed a turntable under the whole garden, it would appear to be spinning somewhat.
I'm off to lie down, offer stands- I can't

I hate drinking in daylight.
Bizarrely it gives me instant hangovers and I feel st by about 6 even if I've only had a couple.
Not really sure why I said that.
Me too. Never seems to stop me though!

I rode my bike to work today to ensure i didn't sneak out early for a few. I am new getting tempted by cold guiness and floral dresses cloud9
I now have an indelible impression of a bloke wearing a floral dress, downing a pint.

Thanks for that, you .

"Stepahnie" is regularly seen riding "her" bike as well wink

I'm on a detox after last week. 8 days of daytime drinking. And evening drinking. And night drinking.
Scrap that, a lovely weekend is here!

A quick update-

having had 8 bottles of homebrew-extended as my best mate turned up- I then ventured to the local, where I remained until 2 ish this morning.
Although my experiment is somewhat inconclusive in it's results due to drinking a further 8 pints of 1664, some black sambuca and Morgan spiced rum, i'm led to believe that I have created a fine, quaffable ale- albeit quite a strong one.
I feel broken today.
I dint normally drink lager at all, and did so in an attempt to get beer fit for Le mans.

I think I will give social drinking a miss for a while

(ie today- it's my birthday on Tuesday, so best I have a few)

It doesn't catch fire, does it?! Just kidding - put me down for a sample if you've got any spare!
