I was making sandwiches for my girlfriend to take to work and I noticed a brown curled up thing slowly come to life....was a caterpillar! Now it would not surprise me to find them dead in the lettuce seeing as it was in the fridge, but it surprised me that it was still alive smile

On further investigation I found a second live caterpillar, and lots of what I assume is caterpillar st on the lettuce leaves (looks like miniscule well-cooked mince meat hehe )

So I currently had two caterpillars growing in my Carte D'or tub with some lettuce to keep them fed laugh But are they supposed to be able to survive at near 0*C temperatures? Surely it would have killed them?

What's the strangest thing you have found in your food? (although I doubt much could beat the customer at a chinese in Oldbury who found a pet-chip in her meat hurl )

Yuck on the pet chip bit!

I've had a salad served in a restaurant which had a caterpillar in it .... I sent it back and asked them to wash the salad, properly!

I once found something that looked like a slug in a Sainsbury's microwave meal. It was chicken pasta or something and there was a big lump of slug like jello.

Have not been to Sainsbury's since. Or eaten a microwave meal.

A collegue from Iran brought us pestacio (sp?) nuts with him. So, all sealed in cling film probably for 6 months, then another month or so on my desk before I popped it open; out flew a moth thing eek

I found one in the other half of the plum I was eating frown

Plums have been added to the list of things not to put in my mouth.

I found half a catterpillar in my sandwich today. I'm pretty lazy when it comes to washing salad from the garden. if its been raining i'll just pick shake and stuff it in a roll. A bit of extra protein never hurts.
