This year has started very well - have had several pounds of raspberries, strawberries and a phenomenal crop of gooseberries. Just grabbed these; first crop of redcurrants this evening too.

My tomato plants are huge now and flowering nicely. Shouldn't be too long before I can start harvesting.

Fortunately for you G, growing fruit is marginally less gay than baking. wink

We've had something like 10 pounds of red currants so far, along with a whole load of black currants and rasperries. Think my gooseberries should be ready about now as well, job for the wekend smile

I have no idea what to do with so many red currants either, the freezer is rammed full of them....

Summer pudding's the obvious choice for that lot. Or redcurrant jelly.

I love gooseberries. Lightly cooked with a little water and some sugar. Then chilled overnight and served straight. So refreshing on a hot day.

Good served with a little vanilla ice cream/creme fraiche/fromage frais/whatever too.

Only these at the moment - wild strawberries:

The fruits are tiny, but their flavour is so intense you only need one to infuse a fruit salad (or a bottle of champagne).

Lots of salad/rocket so far.

Starting to pick at the peas, but they never get anywhere near the kitchen. Just get woofed in the garden.

Eating a few new potatoes now too with lots of butter and a squeeze of lemon.

Courgettes and tomatoes coming on nicely.

I'm having to give away courgettes, 3 plants are producing 3 every 2 days!!

Peas are been eaten straight from the pod.

Lettuce, rocket and spring onions every night.

Tomatoes are doing great outdoors in this weather...should start picking in a couple of weeks.

Carrots and beetroot are young and delicious.

French beans were a waste of time.

Strawberries are just ripening.

Fig tree is full....don't like figs frown . Can you make alcohol from them?
