Son is off to the BIG CHILL. 2010. Not a lot of space, and needing to know what is available to heat and eat without a lot of packaging.
I dont do convienience foods so am not sure other than noodles, tins of beans etc and dried pasta what is available.

Have a look at packet rice - Uncle Bens or the Sainsbury equivalent. The ones with roasted vegetables and the like are cheap as chips and pretty filling. Have saved me from hunger a number or times when facilities are lacking...

Vacuum pack fresh pasta is a great camping food.

Cereal bars are useful as you can stuff loads into every spare space.

Surely he should just be surviving on cans of beer, boxed wine and hip flask spirits though?

All you need - http://www.lookwhatwefound.co.uk/ You can buy them online, or a lot of places seem to stock them these days.

The food is far better than dehydrated, all he needs is a stove and a pan, it's not full of crap and it's in soft pouches so it won't be heavy and will pack into a rucksack easily.

But if he's at a festival, won't he just eat burger-van burgers anyway?

Also, big chill has really nice food...the only thing stopping you is its quite expensive.

However, its about a 45 minute walk from the music back to your tent, so unless you fancy missing three hours of festival fun every time you want to cook a meal, I would eat out.

Waitrose have these at £1.49 at the mo. They are really good for a quick meal

Taking food to a festival?

You have to carry itmiles, cook, wash up, carry it back - no chance

big chill has the best choice of stalls of all the festivals in the uk so don't bother

they've also got 24 hr tea and toast stalls dotted about so yourenever more than ten mins walk
