Back in the 70's when I was a kid my Mum used to cook chicken marengo which consisted of chicken cooked in Heinz cream of tomato soup and not much else. I thought I'd have go at a more authentic version and found a recipe on the net. It looked easy enough with chicken fried in olive oil, cooked in white wine, tomato, garlic, black olives and cray fish served over toasted french bread and a fried egg on top. I even researched the origins and found it was an Italian savoury dish, so named for being the dish that Napoléon Bonaparte ate after the Battle of Marengo. It was crap. I think I prefered my Mum's. Authentic Hawiian Pork Chops next.
