None of the supermarkets around here seem to sell plain oatmeal, which I use for making skirly (Scots recipe, aka oatmeal stuffing), and also as a pork chop coating (delicious!)

So I had a search on t'Interweb and found 'goodnessdirect.co.uk', a health food type shop, and was able to order some. But that's not the thing I'm really looking forward to!

To make ordering online worthwhile (as the courier charge is a flat £6.50 up to a certain weight limit), I had a good browse to see if there was anything else interesting to buy. So, I added some Rooibos tea, some banana chips, sesame snaps etc. and then... I found it.

Dandelion & Burdock.

Haven't had it since I was a kid, about 30 years ago! Delivery is due tomorrow, can't wait!

It's £2.73 for a 750ml bottle. Not cheap for a soft drink, but when compared to wine, a bargain!

Fentimans is sold in Sainsburys, not checked any other supermarket. Our local sells it too and is a great alternative to coke and lemonade. That price sounds a bit steep. ETA-oh my, 750ml redface

I've had the D& from them before now and the Ginger Beer and I would recommend them.

I also had the other week some BARR D&B from Waitrose, it wasn't quite how I remember as a youngster.

I love a nice cold glass of D&B. Ben Shaws still sell it around here but in plastic bottles now frown

Before you could get arrested for it as kids it was known locally as Ncensoredrs sweat.

Gosh that brings back another memory of being a child. I used to always have Ben Shaws soft drinks and it was always either in a can or a big glass bottle that you could return and get some money back.

Fentimans is a bit odd IMHO. I tried some of their tonic water and it tasted like it had been poured out over the floor of a dusty cupboard, then mopped up and put back in the bottle.

Fentimans do seem to improve the recipes which can mean things are not quite as you remember.
