Got some of Lidl's own sriracha today. Very nice. Not too hot, but very tasty. I don't know how it compares to 'proper' sriracha though. I've neve had it.

Popping up to the town centre in Telford last weekend for some bits and bobs, a new sweet shop had opened that specialises in stuff from the US of A. Usual crap like Hershey's "chocolate" and huge tubs of Fluff etc.

But, we noticed in one corner a selection of pouring sauces of the hot / bbq persuasion. Like Jack Daniels' Hickory Smoke and such like. Amongst the display was this :



Mrs v used half the bottle tonight in a slow roasted beef dish, and it is fvcking awesome. Tangy, sweet, and banging hot. It. Is. Dynamite.

£2.00 we paid for it.

Very much recommended.

I am finding TK MAXX is good for random sauces.

I had to throw out 6 full bottles of Daves last week - 2 years out of date and because they don't have preservatives I thought it best to not take any risks when the results of consumption can be quite exciting when fresh. I'm still not 100% convinced it was the right move though, all that vinegar and chilli must just preserve itself forever.

I need to consume more to prevent these issues I guess.

Anyway - just curious if any of you have tried "Purus" from http://www.chillialchemist.co.uk - I'm a big fan of the flavour of the Naga and this sounds like it really plays on this. Some other good sounding stuff listed on the site too, the popping candy is intriguing smile

Them Daves must have been twice as hot festering away for 2 years ,prob like a good home brew don't they get better with age.

This is what I have in the cupboard at the moment. Over the last 15 years I've had most of the big names (Blairs, Daves, etc) and my favourite remains anything low vinegar with a strong scotch bonnet/habanero flavour. The Jamaican scotch bonnet & mustard sauces are very high on the list also.

Gave mine away. There is loads of flavour there but they are seriously hot.

I saw this in a store in the U.S. a few months ago. I had a laugh at the name. No idea what it's like. Anyone tried this?

As I posted earlier up the page, I have a bottle of Daves Private Reserve from 2002 and tried some a couple of months ago and it didn't kill me. It gave me the most outrageous farts but I'm still here, although it has a massive kick which I'm not sure was there when it was first made...

I've also tried bottles of hot sauce (Dave's and some of the original snake bite) that were some years past their BBE dates - and been fine. I love the taste of the snake bite, but it's no longer being made and I couldn't bear to throw it away biggrin

I don't think anything can grow in that stuff hehe
