Quetion not so much about the making of but more about the nutrition,i do 3 eggs, splash of semi skimmed give it a whisk up,add a knob of Flora Buttery then cook in microwave with about 10-15 seconds between stirs.I serve this with 2 slices of Hovis seedy wholemeal with generously spread Flora Buttery on the toast.

So nutritionally how good/bad is this ?

If you're going to do it properly, you use a bain marie - a glass bowl over a pan of simmering water will do. If you can't be arsed with that, use a microwave - but very short blasts between stirring, the point of the exercise is to raise the temperature evenly without overcooking any of it. I only see disadvantages to using direct heat in a pan, and can't see why anyone would expect to get better results that way than either of the other two methods.

had this for lunch today actually...

I remember having the most amazing scrambled eggs at a guest house in Bournement about 3 years ago... I asked the lady what her secret was... and she couldn't think of anything different that she had done to make them taste so good!
An Indian mate taught me a recipe, which is onions, peppers and tomatoes fried, then add garum masala, curry powder and cardamom seeds, then add the eggs and mix up. It's very nice, but I've never had it in the morning.
I do this all the time minus the peppers and cardamon.

Microwave method here ( i find it easier to make them consistently good this way) Eggs+milk in a bowl, whisk then add salt and ground black pepper. When the eggs are nearly done add some chives and grated cheese (nice mature cheddar) this tastes amazingly good. This was an accidental discovery many years ago when the only cheese I had was a double gloucester with chives in.

210 cals+ 40+ 186+ 215
18g prot+ 2.7+ 0+ 2.8
15g fat- 4.5g saturates+ 1.6+ 21+ 10.2

Only worked out Cals, fat and protein for the meal, and have had to estimate that you are eating 30g of butter- it could be a lot more of less.

Anyway i calculated your breakkie to be 650 cals, with 23.5g of protein and 47g of fat.

The calories are a a little higher than i aim for (eating 2300cals per day on a diet), but in themselves aren't dreadful- the level of fat is VERY high though- half of your daily intake- this isn't good- it also has a pretty high level of saturates in it too.

You really need cut down the butter, and possibly lose an egg too- the bread isn't a huge problem, but doing with butter would save you 1/3 of the calories in the meal and almost half the fat- its a lot.

otherwise its not too bad- if you like beans you can have half a tin of beans, one piece of unbuttered toast, and 2-3 eggs with some milk, and that would only come to 450cals or so (depends on how many eggs you have etc) and would be a LOT more filling for quite some time.

Pugwash, very thorough. Yet possibly the gayest thing I've ever read.

Just had a good chuckle reading some of the posts on here...

I can't stand sloppy scrambled eggs. Out of preference I do mine in the pan, and even like some of the mix to brown off before putting it on the toast. Tastes lovely to me, which is surely the point of cooking for yourself?

Other half likes her scrambled eggs sloppy. Microwave's fine for this as you're barely cooking the buggers. However, microwaved egg is without doubt the hardest material known to man. They should use it on spacecraft as I'm sure it would protect from the heat of re-entry.

EFA wink
yes scrambled eggs should be made in a pan!
it really doesn't matter how the heat is transferred to the eggs for cooking, surely?

Two eggs, splash of milk, knob of butter. Season to taste.

Whisk and then microwave for 3 mins, removing and whisking every minute.
clap

Been doing this for years.

Fastest Easiest way.

The only way you can fk it up is to leave it in the microwave too long!

Once cooked, a Drizzle with Tabasco or a hot sauce of your choice works wonders also.
