Am I the only person that likes Pink Floyd that doesn't enjoy The Wall as a whole?
The Wall was what got me hooked. Its an odd album compared to most other music, have you seen the film? it kinda makes more sense if you watch the film (or smoke a field full of skunk...)
My only complaint about the album is that the volume needs to be turned WAY up, in order to hear all the little bits in the background, otherwise it sounds like it has a whole lot of dead/silent bits.

Great album IMO, but more enjoyable if you understand the "story" behind it.

It wouldn't be a problem if I didn't have 2 little HalfPints charging around the house making a noise all the time. smile

I've got a spare ticket for tomorrow night (Friday 20th @ Manchester MEN) if anybody is interested.

It's a floor seat in Block J row K, will take £55 for it, face value is £75 + booking fees.

Yep. I was amazed! What a show!
Indeed. I was last thursday as well. When DG stood on top of the wall the atmosphere in the arena was incredible. I'd love to see PF together again. Maybe RW's almost apology for being a miserable tt all those years ago was the first steps down that road.

Comfortably numb... what a song. goosebumps on my goosebumps!

Didn't go to the concert but just watched it a few times on the internet, pure class and the last time I suspect we will see Waters, Gilmour and Mason on the stage at the same time.
I fear you may be right.

Just got back from seeing the show at Manchester, my one word to describe it would be WOW.

I cannot think of any show/concert I've been to that betters it, for presentation and wow factor.

To see The Wall stretched the full width of the MEN and the whole width be used is a hell of a sight. One of these days I would love to take my geek head of and go to a concert and not look at the lighting and sound rigs, but I want to know how they managed to have 15 projectors doing the wall, yet only be projecting onto the bricks that were in place, and nothing being shown in the other areas. Within 1/2 a second of a brick being placed it would then have an image start to appear on it.

I'm off to book a ticket for the show in June at the MEN.

The O2 was brilliant (especially with Gilmour), but seeing it second time last night at the MEN Arena and just a few meters from the stage was stunning. Having the visuals completely envelop your vision and RW just a few meters away on occasion made it almost a different show. The acoustics were also better, but that could be more down to location than venue.

Off to see what tickets are available for the final UK shows at the end of June...

Gary.

Went on the Sunday with my 66 years young Father in Law/old groover - we had a blast the whole thing was just feckin awesome!!

I'm afraid I did have man tears streaming down my cheeks from the bit where the little girl was sat in the classroom seeing the soldiers visiting and her face crumpling when she realised it was her own daddy - bloody hell, lip is wobbling now as I type this......

I think you were in the minority at the O2 if you weren't like that. Powerful stuff.

Saw this at the MEN on Friday. Keep in mind I was too young to see Pink Floyd when they were together but I have to say, its probably the best Rock Show I've ever seen. The scale of the thing was insane. Initially I was a little cheesed off at paying £85 a year in advance but the seat was right in the middle, just between the soundboard and the stage. It looked and sounded incredible, the band were awesome, the light shows, theatrics, pyro's, infatables and projections kicked ass and it was worth every penny. Fair do's to Roger, he may be a grumpy old bugger that spouts off about politics at every given oportunity but he isn't afraid to put on a balls out, no expense spared rock show the likes of which I doubt I'll see again.

The only way he could have improved on it was for it to have been a Pink Floyd reunion.

OK, 'fess up time. Me too.

30 years on, and the message is essentially the same - as a species we keep on making the same mistakes.

Went to see Roger Waters at the NIA in Birmingham last night with my eldest (17 year old) son.

As a huge fan of Pink Floyd fan over the last 30+ years (albeit The Wall is not my favourite PF album by any means) I belatedly decided to go along and see what is probably the last great PF-related concert involving any of the original band members.

So glad I did!

Whilst there will inevitably (and quite rightly) be great new bands coming along in the future few will be able to match the originality, inventiveness and sheer spectacle of Pink Floyd at their very best.

Just got back from seeing it for the second time. Thats the first time I've seen a show more than once from the same tour, and I could quite happily go to more if I could afford it. He's currently announcing dates in Aus and NZ for next year. Have to hope he comes back home to do some more.

Not as good a view this time as I was up in the 2nd tier in 206, so unfortunately one of the speaker stacks blocked most of the view of the round screen, but seeing as most of the projection is done on the wall it wasn't that big a deal. Cannot wait to see a DVD/BlueRay of the show, although I cannot see how you can capture the full scale of it.

Now to get back to trying to work out what I need to buy from the upcoming Pink Floyd re-issues to get all the rare un-released audio and video material. A small interview with Nick Mason on Q104.3 radio discussing the re-issues - Interview
