Just a heads up that on the 29th Sept. there is a worldwide cinema broadcast of the concert film from the Wall tour (2010-2013).

Run time 2 hours 45 mins (incl. Intro: 5 mins, and The Simple Facts Exclusive In-Conversation with Roger Waters and Nick Mason: 25 mins)

Any one else go to their local cinema to see the film then.

Must have been a nightmare trying to decide how to film something that made use of a 35' high and 400' wide wall and make it look good on a cinema screen (non IMAX). I think they pulled it of brilliantly. Plenty of long shots showing the scale of the performance but also blending it with plenty of close footage of Roger and the band. Also liked how you saw behind the wall as it was being built.

Liked the way that the concert was intercut with his road trip of the WWI and WWII cemeteries where his Grand-father and Father are remembered.

Thought the question and answer session afterwards with Waters and Mason, was good, nice and light hearted but also with some answers that just gave the impression that there was still disagreement over some things.

Seen on one website that it will be available on DVD/Blu-ray on the 1st December. Think I need a bigger TV

Me and the wife went. Loved the film, thought it was well shot and interesting as much as enjoyable.

Sadly it wasn't the perfect experience I was hoping for. We still had to sit through 30 mins of adverts and trailers. Absolutely cheapened the whole experience for me. Combining that with a faulty sound system meant I didn't find it the one off event I was hoping it would be. Missed the Q & A at the end, but I'm sure it'll turn up somewhere else soon.

Worldwide, my arse. Not available down under yet. When it is though, I hope it's at IMAX.

At Blackpool Odeon we had 10mins of film trailers, but no actual adverts.
Think trailers started at 8pm, film about 8:10 and finished about 10:25 and q&a finished approx 10:45

I will look forward to the DVD release.
As well as the wall being built, was there any other behind behind the scenes stuff?

No, just stuff in the background as they were filming the band.

There are quite a few good videos on youtube if you have a look around showing behind the scenes stuff. I'd love to see a detailed one on how the projection system worked (22 projectors I think it used).

Thanks wink
I've seen a couple of on the road/backstage gigs and surprised more bands don't do it. I always think it would be interesting for fans to see what really goes into putting a tour on the road.
The projectors and visual gear for the Wall tour filled up 2 articulated wagons, and there were 27 of us, (trucks) in total.

Day to day on major tours are all pretty much the same and very very dull to be honest.

I know at times it can be a bit same old, same old, but I did it for 9 years and loved it.
