"Happiness is a loaded gun" - The Breeders (I like the original... I just like this better!)

"(The) Metro" - System of a Down.

Chase the Devil:

Original- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uijFctBM47M

Dangermen- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c15cNjcVP1c

The wind section the Dangermen use is just awesome, crank it up and listen to the baseline as your lungs vibrate!

In fact listen to more of the Dangermen stuff, all covers of songs the members of Madness love but never got to play until they made this album.

Agree with these already mentioned
The Tourists - I Only Wanna Be With You
Roxy Music - Jealous Guy
Siouxsie & The Banshees - Dear Prudence
and yes to
Gary Jules - Mad World
... tho i like the originals as well in all the above cases

Scissor Sisters http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6_HV5upI3o (Floyd)
Madeleine Peyroux http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXgFkhMPTIY (Cohen)
Mike Oldfield http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Db2EFXofQWs (Abba)

in the above three instances i like them differently

and the LSO do a superb version, imo, of Paint It Black smile

A cover of a Led Zep song shouldn't work, but that does...is there nothing Mr Reznor can't do???

Personally I think it's better than the original, but all a matter of preference.

Any cover by Hi Standard, California Dreamin' is probably my favourite. Pure comedy.

What about Santana's cover of Black Magic Woman - quite a few of my friends didn't realise that it's a Fleetwood Mac song. eek

I love the Kinks, but I do believe that 'David Watts' was better performed by The Jam.

Apologies for the thread resurrection - but as there already was one...

I rather like this different take on Europe's The Final Countdown. It's not for heavy rockers though, but subtle.

Bettering the original is likely for any cover of Carly Rae Jepson's Call me maybe but this is superb imho.
