My son plays drums in a cover band that operates out of the Chelmsford area. I probably would enjoy them more if I had any idea of the numbers they are mutilating, but they have a local following. This is their Prodigy medley -

I wonder what you think.

Mrs RT casually dropped the bombshell on us the other day that she is a mate of a woman who was in the original version of Prodigy, as a dancer/singer. Called Sharky. We Googled a picture, 'cos we didn't believe her. Yes, that's her, she said. Son nearly collapsed.

The band are all old school mates and doing it for fun and beers, really. Mostly small clubs and weddings occasionally. Here's another example -

I don't really like Tom Jones - but prefer his version of the Prince song "Kiss" to the original.

The Rascal Flatts version of "Life is a highway" is way better than Tom Cochrane's version.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QM88kxxMlhQ

and the Roger Daltrey version of "Dont let the sun go down on me" is better than Elton John's.

Excellent, the whole EP is.

Also Obituary's cover of Celtic Frost's Circle of the Tyrants.

Lawnmower Deth - Kids in America.

Even Kim Wilde likes it, she's having them on stage as special guests at a big gig this Christmas.

I saw Gun support The Stones at Wembley in the 80s and they were terrible, so bad they became a byword for bad music between my wife and I and she bought me this for a joke one Christmas.

We were slightly shocked to find that it's excellent!

Another vote for Tom Jones' "Kiss" - He definitely found something that the original lacked!

Some songs on here I never knew were covers - particularly Twist and Shout by the Beatles and Hound Dog by Elvis.

All better than the originals IMO.

You need stoning for that comment!
Kiss is one of the most inspired, unmistakably brilliant tracks ever produced. But then I am a Prince fan of anything pre-'91!

Smokey Robinsons song 'Who's loving you' sung by Terence Trent D'arby is without doubt the best version
