Having seen Oasis live 3 times, I've yet to see NGHFB but I need to sort that.

In related news, as you do with these things, I know exactly where I was when Simoncelli 58 copped it. I was en route back from Morocco after an enduro trip in the Atlas & Sahara and had a long layover in Casablanca. I was listening to Stop the Clocks when I heard the news, which is a little spooky in itself. Can't hear that song now with thinking of Sic.

I bet.

NGHFB for me is as good as Oasis are, I'm not that keen on Liams stuff though.

At a charity gig, waiting to play, the band on now has the worst singer I have heard in a long time. The worst of it is, she has no idea how bad she is, and reaches for notes way out of her range, it is both horrific and hilarious.

A Sailor's Life as recorded by Fairport Convention on Unhalfbricking, which is the definitive performance of the song imo.

Gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.

I like this thread and usually try to at least give some of what's posted a listen. I've not found an artist yet where I am now a 'fan' and return to, but have seen lots that have interested me enough to delve deeper. Unfortunately there is way too much out there. Even on this last page, there was stuff that i've investigated Scott H Byram, Marie Lisa - good recording close mic'd, but not my cup of tea, and didnt get further than what was posted. Stuff I am already aware of, stuff that I am a fan of already (Joanne Shaw Taylor, Beth Hart, Joe Bonamassa, Leonard Cohen, Gary Moore, Deep Purple

What do other people do? Anyone found someone thru this thread, that are on their forever deep fan list?

Anyway these are on my list at the moment
I'm a big blues fan and people often say 'its just misery isn't it?' yes sometimes it could be interpreted as that, but for me its often cathartic, you come out the other end somehow better. Above all its about the human connection the emotion so often encapsulated in a simple structure of the music that allows the space to express the whole of the human condition.

We all know the expression "lights are on, nobody's home" and its so true. For me the simplicity of the structure of the blues means it highlights any lack of commitment more than any other, people going thru the motions, but when its done, right boy is it noticeable.

Take this for example, a song about the end of a relationship.....sad ...........but you wouldn't know, the performance in this is a ferocious tour de force, primal and for me the closest I get to spiritual. She is channeling something here, something beyond simple emotion. Truly great.

And then there is this by the same artist, not blues, but a story that is sad, but somehow hopeful whilst also recognising struggles are never ending and there will be highs and lows repeating themselves along the way, and that we all carry around with us a small piece of our childhood. I have not been thru what this woman has, but I can cry for her, and do every time I here this.

Keep on sharing people, but above all keep exploring, you never know where the gems will turn up.

Saw them at Brixton more years ago than I care to remember. It was an excellent gig, really good - if they're still on that sort of form you'll have a great time.

Was that the one recorded that I've been caining on Spotify all week? smile If so am properly jealous, sounded a cracking gig.

I've seen them do a couple of DJ Sets over the years but never the live show, but seen a couple of other Live DnB sets before now (London Elektricity come to mind) so can't wait to see Pendulums take on things.

Genesis…And Then There were Three…on the turntable now, probably a bit of Steely Dan or Mott The Hoople next (yes I am an old git!)

Massively underrated album that imo - obviously Follow You Follow Me is a classic, but a big fan of Undertow as well.
