I think he wanted the best song in rap TODAY.

There isn't one. Rap is dead.

tough one, but im gonna go with:

dr dre: still dre

in rap today? even harder, but id probably default to either Kanye West - POWER or Q-tip getting up

Coast to Coast by Word of Mouth feat. DJ Cheese.

Last time rap was interesting? NWA - Straight Outta Compton & Public Enemy - It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back.
Nothing comes close anymore as they have become pathetic cliches!

Which one? That's super tough. These are all classics...

Jurrasic 5 - Day At The Races

Beastie Boys - So Whatcha Want

MOP feat. Busta Rhymes - Ante Up

[Edit...but then these are all old...this one is only two years old...

Cut Chemist - Storm

I've always thought NWA 100 miles (of running) was one of the greatest. Its just the way Easy E kicks off his verse I like so much!

Funnily enough I was bored last night so I logged onto Love film and started watching The Up In Smoke Tour, it amazes me what a great reaction California Love still gets (yes I know that tour took place in 2000!)

Oh, and forget Snow's Informer, Jim Carreys Imposter is a far better tune...!!

I still know every word to that, even the 12minute version.

I think Jay Z is excellent.

But maybe....
;
NWA - Straight Outta Compton
Or
Public Enemy - Fight the Power

Errr.....Maybe.

Loving this at the moment and it's good to see them making a bit of a comeback:
On The Run (Pt2) - The Criminal Minds
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pj4poA18s9E

But usually one of these for me (don't listen to much modern rap music, so these are all proper old skool tracks, back when it had a real energy and rawness to it):

Strong Island - J.V.C Force
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05pcczvmrjc

Schoolly D - Signifying Rapper (great use of Led Zep's Kashmir)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-PxCWwu5kQ

Charlie Sez - Original Concept
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C844uIwwEPI

Talkin' All That Jazz - Stetsasonic
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVQy5Oy1OJ4

Follow The Leader - Eric B & Rakim
