Thinking about this earlier. I can pick up so many songs from the first few notes and it got me thinking about all the great intros to songs.

Songs that come on the radio and instantly put a smile on your face because you know you'll be singing your head off right the way through.

For me, it has to be RadioHead's The Bends.

The energy as that kicks in totally blows me away.

So what've you got, evidenced with links please.

Anything that gives you shivers the second you realise what it is.

Love Will Tear Us Apart - Joy Division
Back In The USSR - The Beatles
Take Me Out - Franz Ferdinand
Blue Monday - New Order

First 4 that sprang to mind.

This must be a contender

Johnny Was - SLF Remember being completely mesmerised by an extended intro rendition in the early 80s at Leicester Uni.... single strobe from the drum riser for about 10 minutes (it seemed) until the first guitar chords chimed in. Still gives me goose bumps now cool

I've seen the stiffs but I don't remember this tune. Tasty.

Time for a bit of funk:

Rainbow Brown - Till You Surrender

The intro just builds up brilliantly and makes me think I'm back in GTA cool

I've always had a soft spot for this:

Lost In Music

Great, unmistakeable intro. Great tune, and some of Nile Rogers' best guitar funkery.
