Yikes, this is thread packed full of grumpy old men isn't it?

I like them, but then I like folk infused music like The Levellers and Seth Lakeman. It certainly better than the pop by numbers pump out by the likes of X Factor winners and their ilk.

I haven't heard that much of theirs, what I have heard seems to be variations of: quiet bIt, loud go mental bit, quiet bit, loud go mental bit, repeat.

The new album absolutely massive in the 'States. I reckon it's because those good 'ole boys love a banjo tune.

Strange that they are provoking such venom

Not particularly a fan but they write their own songs, weren't on a talent show and don't use autotune so by definition are upping the average quality of popular music surely?

I don't like this argument. Just because they've done things under their own steam (credit where credit's due) doesn't necessarily mean they're any good. Obviously what's good and what isn't can be considered a matter of opinion, but it's still a rubbish argument IMO.

No venom from me, I'm fairly ambivalent towards them. Simon Cowell and Louie Walsh however....
