Got 6 for me and some mates about 15 mins before they sold out, so feeling pretty lucky! Will be my first one after 8 Readings, and I'm expecting it to be awesome!
It's a completely different thing from Reading. It's like being on holiday in a weird foreign country where a lot of bands happen to be playing.

Didnt get in, 1.40hr of sitting f5ing the fk out of my laptop, refreshing my phone and calling up a constantly busy line. stty.
Has anyone actually ever got tickets on the phone in modern times? I reckon there is only one phone that number goes through to, which is just left off the hook constantly! nuts

This year was a close thing for me...

I've never failed to get tickets for all my mates but I usually go all out with every laptop, desktop, 3G phone or tablet (all running multiple browsers) that I can lay my hands on. I then make myself a pint of coffee and just sit there hitting refresh hundreds of times until I get a booking page then hitting back and submit again each time the booking page fails - which is often.

It got to 1:40 this year with nothing but blank pages so I tried logging in remotely to my work computer int the city and I finally started to get booking pages... it took about 4 or 5 attempts of hitting back and submit to finally get a confirmation.

... what a mission!

There will be a resale in April when people who paid deposits don't take them up, there were appx 5000 last year, its all very ACT dependant a lot of the time though as people don't quite understand that Glasto isn't really about the Acts

If anyone at the 'business end' of Glasto happens to be looking, how about this suggestion???

Instead of just beefing up the ticket ordering more and more, how about doing a *membership* system??

you sign up for this *at* Glasto, at various rates, paying monthly, yearly, etc..
OR sign up online **only for membership** then pay monthly only, at a rate to cover the price of ticket in time for the event..

You then automatically receive your *member guaranteed* ticket (only one per member, plus partner!)..

Do remember that most big concerts it is normal to book 6 months or a year ahead, due to the speed at which tickets are sold!! the same can be applied to getting tickets to Glasto!! Don't expect to get a 'late' ticket...

Surely this would stop the rush for lots of tickets, people being angry that some got them, and others didn't, etc..... ???

I've read that many times and still don't understand what you are suggesting. A monthly payment system for tickets? How would this sort out the fact that more people want tickets than are available?

A ticket lottery is the way forward. Register. Enter required number for group.

Luck of the draw.

The ability to get tickets shouldn't depend on your IT skills or internet savvy, not least because a festival full of techie geeks is totally contrary to the traditional Glasto ethos.

@Shotgun Rider: have you got a membership to a football club or similar?? you pay every month, and for that price, you are treated with respect as a proper football fan, get other benefits like advance info on matches, priority seats, etc... smile
Unlike the yobbos that just turn up, and only want to be violent..

Do you not want to get a glasto ticket *every* year, with NO effort, by ONLY paying a membership every month????? beerbeer

If you still don't understand, how about DoubleSix's post?? confused

I don't care to belong to any club that will have me as a member. I thought long and hard before registering with Pistonheads!

So you are proposing a presale to all Glastonbury club members? Pay us an extra £x a year and you will get to jump the queue.

Doublesix's post is as clear as day, a lottery but nowhere do you mention a lottery.

It will cease to be an issue in 3-4 years I think

Glasto never always used to sell out, festivals as a whole have been enjoying a boom and attracting a whole new generation, ask any seasoned festival goer and the majority will say Glasto is the daddy, ergo it becomes the De facto tick list festival

Once people have ticked it off and as the economy recovers and people have the money again to choose guaranteed sunshine in Shagaluf or Ibifa the prospect of risking a mud bath at G will be less appealing and as such it will return to the hardcore fans

I hope you're right Mr Soze, as I'm rather disillusioned.

As a local who has attended for well over a decade I now find myself shunned as I don't know how to tweek my host file and/or am not prepared to give up a precious Sunday with my family to sit at screen hitting F5...

Eavis = sellout

well I'm rather confused that people dont understand... ???????

DoubleSix:
I pointed to your post, in the hope 'Shotgun Rider' would understand you better than me, you are saying about the same thing.. smile

My reply to 'Shotgun Rider' was trying to explain to him...

If 'Shotgun Rider' is one of those who hates doing complex things, only wants to 'just get a ticket', cannot be bothered about thinking, etc... he wont have much luck getting a ticket, if he was bothered at all...

'Shotgun Rider': to normal people, *everything* can be a lottery...

- unless all you want to do is stay at home all your life, just ordering pizzas...
BUT WAIT!! what are the chances that your local pizza shop runs out of your fav. ingredients, and you have to **take a chance** on a different one, you take a lottery on whether it will taste horrible, or whether they have a power-cut, and you cannot get through to them!!!!

your local beer house may sell out of beer due to a big match on, you will have to take a lottery on that!!! smile

I simply couldn't agree more, but would add that I will never attend Glastonbury whilst it maintains it's odious corporate image. I'd rather see great bands at local festivals with a real festival ethos.

comnut, have you been taking something in preperation for next year? wink I think I understand what you're trying to get at, but I'm not sure you've thought through the flaws. Main one being the sheer volume of people who try each year.

As for the festival being one thing or another? I try and go most years and have been since I was 16. I keep going because I enjoy it, regardless of what people think good or bad. I don't read too much into something being too "this or that," if I like it, I'm not really bothered.
