Country music fans - the more modern stuff
Discussion
Oh a topic for me!
Brad Paisley, Toby Keith, Keith Urban, Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Lady A, Taylor Swift, Zac Brown Band...
My best gig to date, bar Steeley Dan around 1998 at the NEC was Brad Paisley last year at the O2! He brought his American show over with the big LED screens and videos playing in the background. It was more than just a gig it was a show.
A top Internet radio station to listen to is 98.7 KUPL playing a lot of the new modern country out of Portland Oregan.

All off the above!
Brooks and Dunn are very good as well, as are the new albums from Kix and Ronnie. Big fan of Brad Paisley too, he is an incredibly good guitarist. Trying to learn a few of his songs from the "Play" album now, actually.
(I probably shouldn't admit that I bought Taylor Swift's new album this morning...)

Ditto. And yes, I am quite enjoying it even if some of it is very different to her older stuff
Just noticed you went to see Brad Paisley when he came to the O2 - very jealous! I was planning it, but sadly couldn't afford it at the time. Heres hoping he comes over again soon!

I saw Toby Keith last year as well, although he is a superstar over in the states, it doesn't seem like his thorough red neck views get the same audiences as Brad. Brad pretty much filled the O2, whereas Toby only managed about half of Wembley Arena!
Just remembered this thread - Eric Church's live album has just been released.
I have been listening to it all day, it is brilliant!

Bumping this one to the top as I've just watched this years CMA awards....
Some great new artists that I'd not heard of before
The Band Perry (bought their "Pioneer" album on the strength of the show, excellent
Hunter Hayes - his duet with Jason Mraz was excellent
Florida Georgia Line and many others who performed that night.
I really must investigate ways of getting country radio over the internet, I miss my fix of decent music!

As a guitarist I love country players, Albert Lee, Danny Gatton and Johnny Hiland especially, but I do struggle with the Southern USA "y'all" mindset. Country pickers and fiddle players are undoubtedly the best in the world but the culture thing clashes hard. I've tried to enjoy Brad Paisley for his music but the whole "Jesus loves you" thing just makes me cringe and breaks into the enjoyment of his genius.
I love the heavier country guitar music much more than the steel guitar "My woman left me" stuff.
This is the epitome of country for me, real heavy country guitar style and authentic feeling:

Another fan here. Saw Lady A last year, with Kacey Musgraves supporting, who was superb. Her album is one of the best of this year imo. Also got tickets for Eric Church in Feb.
Been listening to a lot of Chris Young and Dierks Bentley lately too. For a slightly 'rockier' sound, check out Brantley Gilbert.

Also got C2C tickets which should be brilliant! Brad Paisley, Zac Brown Band and many more.
Just trying to find some tickets for Taylor Swift that are fairly decent.
