I was at the Glasgow date last weekend, and I've never seen an atmosphere fall as flat as it did when Journey came on.
Thunder and Whitesnake played a blinder, but Journey couldn't follow it, they weren't 'bad' as such, just sounded weak. Got the bill the wrong way round imho.

Still, was a great gig, and good value for money too. thumbup

Ditto, saw this last night at Manchester, Thunder were amazing, Whitesnake were incredible, had the whole room on their feet, really heavy! But Journey just killed it.

Their set was OK, they can certainly play, the lighting rig impressive but their sound wasn't like as big and sounded very badly mixed, everyone sat down and loads started walking out. Why they agreed to go on after Whitesnake is beyond me.

The early start was annoying, there was no way to get to Manchester from Leeds after work to catch the start so missed the first few tracks of Thunder's set.

Pretty much exactly this. Couldn't fault the energy, or the vocals, but for me, the bass wasn't coming through as it should. No where near as punchy as Whitesnake.

In a recent interview, DC was asked if he minded the fact that Whitesnake weren't always the last band to go on, to which he replied, hell no, I'm quite happy that by the time the last band go on, I'm back in the hotel room with my feet up having a brandy 9not a word for word quote, but you get the jist)

Haven't worked out yet if that's genius or a case of play show, take fee, bugger off...

They've been doing that for 20 years! One of the best bands I've seen live.

From FB it looks like they've done it every night. We only went to see Thunder, but watched the other two as we'd paid to see them.

David really should call it "David Coverdale and Friends", as no other Whitesnake members are on stage-they're touring as Snakecharmer!

As for Journey, well I've never seen so many people leaving DURING the main headliners show! I thought they were OK, but apparently the sound at other concerts was not too good. According to posts on FB, it's been the same at all the shows on this tour.

Went to the Wembley show. As others have said, Thunder, just brilliant. Whitesnake, equally so though I do think dear old DC's voice was not as good as it once was.

I think the trouble with Journey was that they are such a different band to the other two and appeal to a different type of fan. I love Journey but because the 'new' singer sounds so much like Perry, it was almost like listening to a tribute band. I felt the same when I went to see ELO2 a few years back.

Technically, you couldn't fault them and their first three songs were proper kick-ass good. But they just didn't manage to own the place.

I went to the Wembley show too, I'm not usually the one to complain about sound at a live show (someone always does) but on Wednesday it was my turn. A lot of the time I couldn't even make out what they were playing and when Journey did a piano solo even that was distorted. I had a good time but that was by far the worst sound I've ever heard at a live concert. DC's voice certainly was on its way out, but it is the end of a tour so not really too much of a surprise, and Tommy Aldridge on drums played with them in the late '80s I believe so it wasn't quite Trigger's broom at least.

I didn't even realise it was Tommy until he did the drum solo and I thought that sounds an awful lot like Tommy Aldridge's solo on Ozzy Osbourne's Tribute live album!

I thought Journey put on a good show actually, I was surprised to see so many leaving early. But you're right, the first three songs they were on fire and that was the best period of their set, from there I thought the sound went off a bit again but perhaps the band had already given their best in the first 15 minutes.

^^^^ This! Whitesnake for me were awesome, Journey very good (somehow a little muffled, their sound mixer needs kicking!) and Thunder were also very good, though somehow didn't quite have 'it' as in stage presence/charisma whatever

I saw Whitesnake on every tour from 1997 through to a couple of Years ago - up to about 2005 they got better each time they saw them but since then Coverdale's voice has completely gone.

I last saw them at Donington and it was embarrassingly bad. Still a massive fan but now only of the CD's - I won't pay to see them again - I'd rather remember the good gigs.

Besides if I wanted to go to a gig where the singer relies on the audience to sing more than half the set because he cant do it anymore I'd go and see Ozzysoapbox

For what its worth Thunder have been consistently great throughout their career - why they never graduated to full headlining/arena touring status is beyond me.

I've seen Journey a few times - their sound at the NEC on the last tour was shocking too - it was loud but not excessively so but very distorted - shame as they are all talented guys.
