Me? "Nothing Compares to You" by Sinead O'Connor, or "Heroes" (Live version on Reality Tour) by Bowie. Or "Jolene" by the White Stripes. Or....no that's enough for starters.

Yes, for me too.

Also, Adele "Someone like you" does it too. And "Skyfall". IMMENSE songs.

Does it have to be a "song"?

'cause this is the first thing that sprung to mind : The Thomas Tallis Fantasia by Vaughan-Williams. Live in Gloucester cathedral.

Spine tingling.

Without a shadow of a doubt for me it's Aaron Static's remix of Airwave. Absolutely beautiful.

And here's an electric version of the same song that for me is truly awe inspiring:

And I never thought I'd post an Enya video to PH (or anywhere on the internet for that matter), but the flute on the track Exile at around 2m30s is gorgeous:

Me too, but for sad reasons. That isn't to say I don't still love the song, but for different reasons - remembering a lost one.

Been recommended many times, but listen to Antony and the Johnsons - Hope there's somebody.

I defy you not to have a re-think.

Metallica - No Leaf Clover

Played live as part of their S&M tour, alongside the San Fransisco Symphony Orchestra. This song was written especially to suit being played with the Orchestra, and as such, I think works better than the score arranged for their existing songs.

It is, and will always be, absolutely fan-bloody-tastic...when I dig the album out and play it on my home separates...by the last verse, when the entire orchestra is backing the band, and James Hetfield's vocals are growling away alongside such a beautiful sound and arrangement, it doesn't just make my hairs stand on end, it actually makes me physically shiver.

I know, I know - it sounds a bit weird biggrin

Anyone who loves music should love and appreciate this arrangement. Listen to it, and let me know! biggrin

ETA: Heheh, feckin ell - just watched my own You Tube link and, yep, again - shivers! Ha!

Oh yes, agreed.

You've just reminded me of one of the most seminal, visceral nights of my life actually - Monsters of Rock at Donington in 1995.

Metallica were headlining. It was dark, it was raining - but the power from the stage and the boundless energy of the crowd at the front of that gig, with me in the middle of it, I will never forget. I can't explain it - but people who have been in similar situations will know what I'm talking about biggrin

I remember the intro to this song very well on that night. Dark stage, the feel of the rain, the pent-up excitement of everyone around me, the crush of hot sweaty bodies (yuck smile ) the smell of it all...then the bells tolling.

Dung! Dung! Then the explosion of guitars, noise, blinding lights and pyrotechnics....IN YOUR FACE!!!

We went mental biggrinbiggrinbiggrin
