Haven't seen Soundgarden live since the early 90's, when they did one of the best gigs I've seen - that was at a student union in Glasgow. .
I think the problem was the venue(it was only the Apollo!)was too large for the Soundgarden act. I can imagine in a small venue they'd be excellent.

Just booked up for Massive Attack on Blackheath in September. Alldayer for £60, which doesn't seem bad value.

Added Kosheen to my list of gigs for the year last night, partly because they were playing nearby at the Clapham Grand and I'd been listening to them again recently - superb live band.

Couldn't believe how much better their singer sounds live than on their albums.

So far this year I've seen
Interpol at O2 Academy (Royal Blood an excellent support)
Manic Street Preachers at Barrowlands - probably one of my favourite gigs of all time
Augustines at The Arches, really good gig with a great acoustic encore

Only other thing planned this year is Racing Rocks at Rockingham, my mates' band is on the lineup.

Keeping an eye open and on this thread for more though

10 or maybe even 5 years ago I'd have been there with bells on, have been watching it slowly evolve for the best part of a year, bit wary of the "tickets by pledge" thing as I've seen a few overly ambitious projects in this scene fail.

Know what you mean. Am waiting for the day tickets to go on-sale...not rushing-in just yet...

Shame they didn't go for the rebellion festival model (several large stages and several smaller stages all indoors within the winter gardens complex, blackpool) Millions of cheap B&B's within 5 mins walk.

While I'm not a proper fatty I'm not the lean svelte man I was 10 years ago owning as a I do a quantity of strategic lager reserve about my person, 4 days at a festival without washing takes it's toll.

Much tempted by both this and sonisphere this year. Sonisphere I'm sorely tempted to cab it and/or call a few favours in (it's 21 miles from my house)

Rebellion's on my list to do soon.

As for drinking...sad as it is, I find myself driving to festivals most of the time now (whether home or local B&B), as I really can't be arsed with the whole "camping experience" at these things anymore...and yes, I am getting old! wink

(Oh, and the beer served is always watery sh'te)

Do it, we had a great time- I enjoy a bit of punk but not enough to do a whole festival, the stars aligned somewhat last year with several must see acts so we went along and really enjoyed it, really well run, had a really friendly atmosphere. Co-coincided with our anniversary so we toddled round the corner to a nice restaurant at a suitable point in the evening, then back to the festival, another night did the same to a nice curry house, the whole B+B was full of festival goers so everyone clonking back at 2am wasn't a concern. It was such a civilised way to do a festival...

I thought it was a pretty amazing gig too! they just came out and played what we wanted to hear! no messing about with chat/ banter, just good songs. and playing for nearly 2 hours was great, very rarely get that at a gig these days!
