10 or maybe even 5 years ago I'd have been there with bells on, have been watching it slowly evolve for the best part of a year, bit wary of the "tickets by pledge" thing as I've seen a few overly ambitious projects in this scene fail.
Know what you mean. Am waiting for the day tickets to go on-sale...not rushing-in just yet...While I'm not a proper fatty I'm not the lean svelte man I was 10 years ago owning as a I do a quantity of strategic lager reserve about my person, 4 days at a festival without washing takes it's toll.
Much tempted by both this and sonisphere this year. Sonisphere I'm sorely tempted to cab it and/or call a few favours in (it's 21 miles from my house)

Can you buy tickets from proper outlets yet?

I'm seeing NY and The National in Hyde Park on Saturday - just hoping the Noise Police haven't killed the sound too much there!
Was there on Friday for Black Sabbath, and the sound was OK from where I was standing. The curfew was 10:30pm though, thanks to the Noise Police.Don't know about other gigs there, but the beer queues were massive - either a case of the heat making everyone thirsty, or too few bars for the event (probably this).

Thanks - I've been to a fair few gigs at Hyde PArk over the years, some good, some bad. I can imagine Sabbath had it turned up to 11! Useful info on the bars, thanks. Previous years have been well organised but as I understand from The Libertines gig on Saturday far too much of the 'arena' area is given over to VIP tickets rather than General Admission. I can afford all that VIP nonsense but find it the antithesis of going to see a band, I absolutely loathe the 'them and us' spirit it creates.

First Hyde Park gig for me, and all the main stage bands were good and Ozzy can still deliver!!Useful info on the bars, thanks. I think the area being mentioned as VIP is the Premium View area - I'd seen a few comments after Friday, in particular the Telegraph review and a quarter of that was absolute b*llocks wrongly given over to criticism of the VIP area.
There's nothing in the arena layout though that stops anyone getting to the front of the stage, and the whole front of stage was General Admission. The Premium View area starts maybe 100 feet from the stage running from in front of the terrace to the centre of the arena, definitely not as bad as some of the 'Golden Ticket' areas I've seen directly in front of the stage and hate with a passion.

Try to do one a month:
January - Lamb of God (couldn't go as was ill)
February - Motorhead (cancelled as Lemmy was ill)
March - Editors, last week. Good gig.
April - Anti Nowhere League, looking forward to that.
Nothing else planned so far & no festivals this year as am planning a house move (except for camp bestival, but that doesn't count as I'm going under duress and it's pants).

Tonight: James in Oxford. One of my favourite bands, their new album is great.
I couldn't get a ticket as it sold out quickly, but via the wonders of their Facebook page found a bloke up north with two spares, did a face value deal with him over a couple of instant messages, sent him the money on trust and two tickets arrived on my doormat yesterday. Rather restored my faith in human nature.

so much for that then... had a bad feeling about it all along, word is the organisers got F'd over by a sub con but I wonder given the size of the event if they were trying to run before they could walk

Got 2 gigs on the way - Saxon, and Motorhead.
Only gigs to look forward to next year are Motley Crue and AC/DC.
Where are AC/DC playing?Only gigs to look forward to next year are Motley Crue and AC/DC.
I've also got Lemmy and chums coming up, I'm quite happy to see The Damned instead of Saxon.
I'm not too fussed about the Damned. I was over the moon about the originally planned Brixton gigs with Motorhead and Saxon together. Ho hum
I was half-tempted to say that yeah, I've already got my ticket for AC/DC warm-up gig at the O2 Islington

Had me going there. I'm determined to see them again after over a thirty year lacuna. Manchester Apollo, 1979/80 with Bon Scott. I've been tempted to see them in stadia before but remembered how it was the intimacy of the gig at the Apollo that actually made it...not sure it would be the same in a massive arena. But I'll take the chance. I'm not too fussed about the Damned. I was over the moon about the originally planned Brixton gigs with Motorhead and Saxon together. Ho hum
