Another for Slipknot at the NIA. Seated unfortunately. I would love to go wild with 'the kids'...but I fear my hips or somesuch would let me down and I'd probably suffer an ignominous death trampled under thousands of nauseating teenagers' grubby feet. Harrumph.

You sound like me - taking my lads to see Hollywood Undead in Birmingham next month. Fortunately my youngest doesn't like a pushing and shoving crowd so we're sitting upstairs on the balcony whilst eldest lad and his Mrs are getting their mosh on. Or whatever it is they call it these days.

Slightly OT .... although a 60s/70s/80s rock/metalhead those are 2 bands that hold absolutely no appeal for me to go and see. Of course, if I was offered a freebie, I'd snap hand off ... but handing over my hard-earned ..... no thanks!

Same with Guns n Roses .... I just don't get the appeal. They do absolutely nothing for me whatsoever paperbag

Back on topic now smile

I should have been at the Borderline tonight to see me old mucker Bernie Torme, but circumstance got the better of me frown

Next up is Motorhead (Nov), Saxon (Dec), Queen (Jan) then Mark Knopfler (May) bounce

Only gigs on the horizon are Motley Crue and AC/DC thumbup
I got Queen in Jan at the NIA with Mrs Champers and the two daughters; should be fun biggrin

I saw them about 30 years ago (before Richie Blackmore totally lost it) and loved 'em... my mate is as giddy as a school girl.

I got tickets last week to see Eric Clapton at the Albert Hall next May after a long wait on line I bought them direct from the venue rather than the profiteering outlets. Could only get restricted view, but it was that or nothing given the other site's prices at £550 a pair.

Black Stone Cherry was completely below average. Too much audience participation because of the whining lead singer meant half the time was spent listening to the idiots in standing howling along unaccompanied to unrecognisable tunes. Spinal Tap moment was two coffee tables on stage used as 'platforms' for some posing by the energetic guitarists. Unfortunately the inevitable broken ankle which might have saved the evening didn't happen. And the Chinese was shut on the way back.

Motorhead on Tuesday, where I expect Lemmy to do the business.

seen black stone cherry last sunday at the hydro in glasgow and in my opinion are playing gig venues just far too big for them. I hadnt heard any of here stuff before the gig (mates said it would be a good gig). they sold out the barrowlands back in february, which is a medium sized gig venue for scotland, to suddenly go from that to thinking they would sell out huge new modern venue was very surprising.

gig was very average, they didnt have enough presence to hold the room and having half the seating area closed off to make it appear busier just didnt work for me. sounded ok, but i wouldnt rush back to see them or even bother with any of their albums.

oh and airborne were supporting, seen them before and all i can say is- I just dont get it! they are just dreadful, i just dont get the joke.

As a primer to this have a listen to Radio 1 live lounge on Thursday as they are playing live on Fern Cotton's show around 12.

Just noticed this thread. I was a bit of a fan of the Bluetones over the years & since they split, a friend of mine plays in a band that supports Mark Morris occasionally. They're a sociable bunch & we've got to know them a little over time.

Mark Morriss plays a few full band shows every year & the band is more or less the 'tones, so we decided to get together & make a night of it. Serendipitously, but by accident, my pal booked the same hotel they were in, so it ended up epically messy. The last clear memory I have is being handed a Margarita by Mark at about 3am on Sunday morning, then waking up on the floor of the band's room about 10am.

That's one that will live in the memory a while.

I think this is Andy, the Keys player getting friendly with the stuffed toy dog in the room.

Adam Devlin the next morning. Probably best not to ask.
