Motorhead on Tuesday, where I expect Lemmy to do the business.
And? How was it?Lemmy did the business. He's thin and looks a bit tired, but then after what he's been through it's a minor miracle he's touring at all. I've had a major operation and know how much it takes out of you. The wry comments are still there between songs, in particular one before Killed by Death in which Lemmy said 'fk You' with grin. His voice was a little off, as was the lead guitar playing and it was quite a short set. Support bands, one of which was The Damned, were good.
It was very, very loud. It was Motorhead, and they played rock'n'roll.

and Royal Blood on Monday.....
Likewise saw this lot, didn't do a lot for me, but each to their own. They seem to be The Next Big Thing(tm) Agreed,re RB, but we will see.
The beauty of Oxford is its an hour away, parkings easy, its a decent size to be intimate and tickets are always very easy to get and very cheap.....
Just booked for The Cure at the Hammy O for Tues 23 Dec, smallest venue I've seen them in for a very long time...should be good.
Slightly in advance of the Gig plans 2015 thread I've also recently booked for Kraftwerk in Amsterdam (January) and Jon Hopkins at Brixton (April). Been a very good 2014 gigs wise, pick so far are the 2 Mogwai gigs I've been to (Royal Festival Hall and Brighton) but lets see what The Cure do.

Has anyone used the tickets site AXS before? I'm looking to buy tickets for Simply Red next year as a gift, and the availability on AXS is better than Ticketmaster. Just looking for opinions before I commit to buy.
AXS are fine going by the times I've used them - Hyde Park and Invictus Closing tickets this year, and a couple of times previously.hoegaardenruls said:

A few diverse gigs coming up
Carter USM at Brixton Academy
Dragonforce/Epica at Kentish Town Forum
The Cure at Hammersmith Odeon
Got a very similar list, as I was tempted when I saw the on-sale for the Cure this morning and picked up a ticket for the 23rd. I will be the first time I've seen them for 20+ years, and first time I've paid to see them..Carter USM at Brixton Academy
Dragonforce/Epica at Kentish Town Forum
The Cure at Hammersmith Odeon
Dragonforce/Epica is a maybe for the beginning of December, but also have both Carter gigs next month which will feel like the end of an era..
And, to finish the year, Red Hot Chilli Pipers!!
Just bought a ticket to see cadillac three in London. Along with blackberry smoke they are my two must see bands for this year. BS were fantastic, hoping CT live up to expectations.
Also got Temperance Movement a week tomorrow.
I'm a huge fan of seeing bands I love at small gigs, especially at £11 a ticket like these three have been.

Royal blood postponed until January due to illness....
FFS that's poor form, postponing on the day, they must know a day before I was there at James last night (absolutely brilliant btw), itself a rescheduled show due to a similar on-the-day cancellation. We got chatting to a chap who'd driven from Derby, taking yesterday afternoon and today off work for the gig, people invest a lot of time and money in these things.
I'd be a tad pissed off if I'd done similar and the show had been pulled at a few hours notice today. I know, it's in the T&Cs, but if he's got 'severe tonsilitis' as stated on the O2 Oxford website this morning then he probably had it last night, and could've pulled the gig then and let people go to work if they could do.
