Wow - please let us know if he's still as angry as when they first toured.

I saw them play in Manchester on their second ever night playing in the UK. Seriously thought someone was going to die that night.

The drummer was in a cage for protection and the number of times he threw his guitarist off stage into the crowd and was throwing water over the keyboards - I'd never and haven't ever seen anything quite like it. Made a Macc Lads concert look like kindergarten outing to the sandpit.

One of my most memorable concerts, and that would include being on/jumping off the stage with Kurt Cobain in the Duchess of York in Leeds.

Hope it's as powerful now as it was back then. Reznor is a musical genious, have you seen how many movie sound tracks he's worked on?
Their show at the O2 Arena in May will be about the 8th or 9th NIN gig, which started with the support slot for G'n'R at Wembley Stadium in '91 up to the Scala in London last year. As intense as their shows can be, they've never quite hit the level of that UK club tour in '91 - saw them in King Tut's in Glasgow, and that was epic, and likewise thought someone was going to be seriously hurt that night. Funnily enough, I spoke to Trent Reznor in the bar before the show, and you wouldn't have thought it was the same guy on stage.
We're off to Nottingham to see them the day after. 4th or 5th time for me - first time was the Fragility tour (started getting properly into them in 1994, missed out on Self-Destruct tickets! frown ). Haven't seen that level of aggression from him though...am guessing his first 10 years of writing and touring mellowed him...

Last two times were the Wave Goodbye Tour (London, then Sonisphere - their "last European gig ever"). Glad I went to London as that was utterly sublime, whereas Sonisphere was pretty average and very self-indulgent. Hoping this tour is worth their return...

The definite highlight of that London show was the two encores with Gary Numan..

yes

And them playing "Down in it" - not a set regular, but one of my favourite NIN songs...still remember writing out the entire song lyrics from memory on the back of the exam paper during a particularly difficult Maths exam at Uni! Not sure if I passed the exam or not...

Aside from that, got tickets for D-A-D next month in London, and the last ever shows (supposedly) by Carter USM at Shepherd's Bush and Brixton Academy.

Otherwise, will probably pick up tickets for the Calling Festival gigs on Clapham Common.
As a bit of a contrast, just booked tickets for Tom Jones at Edinburgh Castle in July..

Try to do one a month:
January - Lamb of God (couldn't go as was ill)
February - Motorhead (cancelled as Lemmy was ill)
March - Editors, last week. Good gig.
April - Anti Nowhere League, looking forward to that.

Nothing else planned so far & no festivals this year as am planning a house move (except for camp bestival, but that doesn't count as I'm going under duress and it's pants).

It is indeed them. Saw them a couple of years ago at Download, they put on a good show. When your front man is called Animal you're kind of obliged to perform I guess.

Anyway, they are currently touring, I'm seeing them at the 100 club in that London. It's not an arena tour, that's for sure.

Just got tickets for Black Stone Cherry, supported by Airbourne and Theory of a Deadman - Wembley Arena - 1st November. BSCs biggest headlining tour to date, and thoroughly well-deserved too; they always put on a great show, and really should be bigger and better-known than they are.

11/4 - Manic Street Preachers @ Brixton
16/4 - Elbow @ The O2
17/4 - British Sea Power @Sub89 Reading
01/5 - Billy Bragg @ Hammersmith Apollo
02/5 - Bob Log III @ The Lexington
21/5 - Embrace @ Shep Bush Empire
12/7 - Neil Young & The National in Hyde Park

+ Glastonbury, Latitude, Reading and End of the Road Festivals.

A tidy little haul for a paying punter. Still not as good as the 49 gigs and 8 festivals I managed in the year before I met Mrs PurpleTurtle, alas those days are long gone! Car & bikes aside, live music is my main hobby.

I was gagging to go to this, but am on a boy's weekend away from the early hours of the next day, alas divorce would be imminent on my return if I'd tried to swing that one too. Hope it's good, I do like them.

He's headlining Latitude, and although I was/am a big fan of Blur, I couldn't stand Gorillaz and wonder what his solo stuff will be like? I'm hoping for greatness but expecting off-the-wall mediocrity.

New stuff sounded really good the other week from Radio 6 festival, much more The Good, The Bad and The Queen rather than Gorillaz.
