You guys who are on your 5th or 6th Glastonbury on the trot how do you manage to get tickets, our first and only time was 2011 and it was epic however since then we've not been able to get tickets and it's not for want of trying either.
Same here, I went every year from early nineties but since it's change to online not a sniff , the last time I went I had to win a competition in the paper , really fed up of spending hr's trying to get through and yet some people get through every yearconfused

Trying again sunday morning, fingers crossed
Persistence plays a part, but I have to say the last few years a group of us have all shared reservation details (and occasionally credit card details) to make sure everyone gets a ticket.

It was never especially easy. The first few times I went it was, erm, free. Ever since the super fence went up getting tickets has involved starting five minutes before the stated time and plugging away for as many hours as it takes.
No luck again, 5 people all trying and not a sniff again,,, must dig out my knotted rope for the super fence

I've just been lucky, I think. We have a core group of 12 of us who go, likewise we share registration details on a spreadsheet (easier to cut and paste details than type in manually, minimising the risk of gettig bombed out halfway through). We split into two sub-groups of 6, the deal being that if you get into the Seetickets site and get a connection you buy for your sub-group, then try for the other group if you can. There are normally about 8 of that 12 all trying to get in to buy the tickets. That has seemed to work out for us. Nobody has any special connection, just regular home broadband.

I realise that 8 people hitting the website when 2 could cover 12 ticket purchases is probably contributing to the website performance problems but everybody seems to do it. I would personally prefer some sort of ballot system so it is 'fairer', with one person being able to buy say up to six tickets (advance-linked by registration number, to prevent people 'selling' a link to them, but giving enough capacity for families with up to 4 kids) in an initial sale, then then remainder hitting a general sale. If they offered 20,000 of such 'golden tickets' via a ballot they would shift between 20k and 120k actual tickets in a much fairer way, the remainder going on general sale.

I do always wonder if they intentionally throttle access to the sales process, to create an artificial hype. The year I first went (2008) I was able to get a ticket weeks after the on-sale date, but it almost went bust that year so something had to happen to make them shift more tickets.

Silverfish I like.
That takes me back, saw them live a couple of times, still got a "fat as f*ck" t-shirt somewhere. And Nirvana, Pixies, No Means No, Alice Donut, all those bands.. They were good times.

Myself and my wife; this year and last, had two laptops, two tablets and two smartphones all set up ready to go and we were refreshing 10 minutes before ticket opening and we got nothing.

Sorry to hear that, I should add that my group are displaced throughout the country using a variety of ISPs. It might just be that is sufficient a variable for *someone* to strike lucky. FWIW my friend is active in the Twitter '#twisto' group - very much liek PH for Glasto, but over Twitter. Somebody she'd never met was kind enought to buy her ticket at the other end of the country because they had managed to get in, all done on trust/agreement to pay another person's deposit on the promise of immediate fund transfer. Not for everyone I appreciate, but there are some good people out there who will help you out.

Not a 'metaller either, I'd have preferred to see somebody else in that slot, but I guess they are popular, although I think more with the Sonisphere crowd than the Glastonbury one.

I saw them at the O2 on their last album launch and just didn't 'get' them, apart from their big hits. I'll be off to watch Mogwai up The Park, hopefully sneaking down to catch them finish on Nothing Else Matters though.

the last time they were on the bbc they had a no sweary policy as it was broadcast live on radio one.

they duly obeyed by blasting into creeping death witha a "fk yeah motherfkers" from jaymz - classic.

i think the host that day was jacqui brambles and she nearly got incinerated by a pyro too iirc...

it will be interesting to see what sort of set they do....

Not been for years but Metallica seem like an odd choice for Glastonbury headliners. I don't think they have much appeal outside the world of METAL!

About time they injected some metal into Glasto. Apparently Metallica have wanted to do it for years but have always been turned down. Perhap this is the start of better things to come. Iron Maiden next year?

My Metallica knowledge extends to justice for all and the black album, suspect they would be a great live band, plus I get to watch them in a mixed Glastonbury crowd, not a bunch of sweaty orrible Metal fans.

Can't see the appeal of Dolly Parton though

I wonder if metallica will perform with a full orchestra like they've done previously?

I recon that would go down pretty well at glastonbury.

Indeed.

Unlike a lot of Glasto regulars I am partial to a spot of metal, but I get that they're a bit leftfield (no pun intended). Still, I don't think they're any weirder than The English National Ballet or Dolly Parton.

For what it's worth, I still remember the immense circle pit in front of Less Than Jake back in 2001. If a relatively little known ska punk band can pull it off, then one of the world's biggest live acts surely can. evil

She's in the Sunday afternoon 'Legend' slot which I always enjoy. By that time, having been on a full-on festival bender since Wednesday lunchtime it is often some much needed respite to sit down and relax for a bit! The artists they've had in that slot in recent years (Kenny Rogers, Don McLean, Ray Davies to name but a few) have all been brilliant. That's the whole eclectic appeal of Glastonbury for me, you get Ccountry and Metal legends sharing the same stage a few hours apart, and if you don't like either there will always be something somewhere to suit you on another stage.
