I am single handedly turning the guitarists of PH into headphone wearing silent assassins.

It's the natural condition of all musicians to think all the others are better than they are. You're a better guitarist than you think.

Having had a play around with my guitar teacher's Morley Bad Horsie the other week, but not being able to justify quite so much cash I've just taken delivery of a Dunlop cry baby. Time to start murdering some Hendrix tunes.

I've literally got room left for half a pedal on my board & our bass wallah has been moaning at me that I'm using a delay pedal as a reverb & he's right, so I've just bought one of these.

I've got a few mooer pedals, pretty pleased for the outlay. Need to be careful with my clumsy big feet though as I keep stepping on 2 at once!

Is there a story to go along with that?

Little bit different, but I picked this up a few months ago:

Holton H200 Bb/f alto horn (with stopping/A valve)

Bought as a second instrument, a bit more secure on the high notes, barely used and about half its new price. Had a Paxman alto horn that this replaces which does the job but lacks a little something - 50 years old this year though and a lovely old thing, completely handbuilt.

Yeah man. After years freelancing in other peoples studios, ive taken the plunge and opened my own. Im an analogue guy through and through, although I use computers and digital stuff I wanted the studio to be hybrid so I can record to tape or use the computer. Ive worked on one of these before and this one came up for sale through someone I know. So I took the plunge. Ill post some piccys of the studio when we finish.

Looks like it says Soundcraft?

Beautiful desk, don't forget to post those pics and list all your outboard too. Some tech details of studio structure sound isolation/acoustic treatment would be interesting!

Would not have a clue what to do with it, but I do love the engineering in any wind instrument.

Cheers chaps. As you say, it's the combination of engineering & precision, and that craftsmanship that goes with a handbuilt instrument. Truth be told, my other older alto (English) and my main double hotn (German) are both better examples of handbuilt craftsmanship (and IMHO look better for it).

The older alto (1964) was actually one of Paxman's early prototypes - as such it's not as good as later designs, but the detail in the design is incredible.

I was considering the amp version of this until I discovered the Boss eband.

I think this kind of product is the future, modelling has come so far of late, with things like Axe Fx proving it can be done to a very high standard.
