I was tempted to ask what guitar bits, but music is a broad church & so let's not be selfish.

This is on it's way to me. 2nd one, shouldn't have sold the 1st, it was magic.

Been in bands on and off for the last 15 years, as a singer.

I used to use an AKG microphone....which was 'alright.' However, on advice, about 2 years ago I bought a Shure SM58 Beta. Well, I think the words are 'bloody hell...' I had no idea what I had been missing! This mic is a total revelation.

Anyway, I have always had a five-meter long XLR lead. Recently, I realised that this was way too short, and I couldn't 'prance around' like a frontman-tart properly.

So, to contribute to this thread - I have just bought a ten-metre long 'Die Hard' XLR mic lead.

It is wonderful. Lifetime guarantee too, woohoo!

Marshall 1987x 50W Plexi reissue. ebay bargain, sold as new in box. Unfortunately I found a service ticket in it from when it was returned faulty 3 years ago, so the seller has agreed to take it back for a refund.

Shame as aside from being face meltingly loud, the sound of it is wonderful esp with the Les Paul. Might try to have a go on a JTM45 reissue instead to see if the volume is more manageable.

Not bought, as such; more re-discovered.

Clearing out an old wardrobe last weekend, I found ^ that. Shortly after I got wed, I bought a Korg 3000 multi-effects board and subsequently sold all my stomp boxes. Except, it now seems, that one smile After years gathering dust, I'm happy to report that it still produces fantastic sounds.

I've been indulging myself a bit recently

Set of EMGs for my Strat. I love them, wish I'd done it years ago

Boss ME-50 second hand, bloody good effects unit for £75

Rode NT-1000 with shock mount and TC Helicon voice processor. Interesting. They make me sound a bit better than I used to but am still expermenting.

Fishman TriplePlay guitar to midi system. Bloody brilliant (I already have a Roland VG-99 so have something to compare the Fishman tracking capabilities too. Fishman have moved the game forward with this unit, no hardware bar the guitar mounted stuff, it's all done in your computer.

My new Korg Pitchblack rack mount tuner looks very nice and works well too.

After a 30 year wait I finally bought myself a Tube Screamer pedal which I'm loving. Also a set of replacement pots, cap, jack and switch for my Epiphone LP and similar (plus a 4 way switch) for my Affinity Telecaster. All these things have improved the sound and/or control over it, which in turn has inspired me to play new (to me) songs.

Also, though it doesn't really count since I'm loathe to use them, but I bought a set of commemorative picks at an Eagles concert I went to last night (great concert too BTW).

I forgot to mention the 18year old Simon and Patrick acoustic I bought from eBay last week. £155 which is a damn good price, though it needs a bit of work (which fortunately I can do myself). I'm going to fit a JLD Bridge Doctor from Stewart Macdonald because it's 'bellied' a bit, and I think I'll do a partial refret too, just the first 14 frets and polish up the others to match.

Yes damn it, I kept hitting refresh until they had stock on their website as well. wink

I had to wait for the internet to fall into popular use too.wink

I'm also good at procrastinating, though mainly it was the usual domestic distractions that took me away from playing very often, finally got back into playing regularly again and I thought about that TS I'd always wished I'd bought back then.

I might buy a Fender Twin reverb when I'm 90 as well, only just over 40 years to go...

I've gone a bit mad recently.

Les Paul Std 2013 in feb, I was going to wait until I was 50 but a friend pointed out that was a stupid idea and I should stop going on about it and just get one.. Good move.

Last month had a mad moment on ebay and bought a broken blackstar ht40. It just needed valves. It turned out the bias had been set really high so a visit to hotrox and set of valves (pre and power) and a vintage 30. All installed and bias set, starting to sound really good.

I've also had a few pedals, mooer trelicopter, orange 90 and reecho and last week a TC mini spark.

Which meant I had to re wire my pedal board.

I also went halves with a mate on a small desk, some mics. cables and a power amp...

I've probably spent more in the last 4 months than in the last 30 years! I can however now get all of the sounds I need. I just have to rewire my cry baby as it is a little unreliable.

Next for me is a decent guitar stand.

Seriously thinking about a Helweg pedal board. These are things of great beauty to my eyes. Plus my home made affair is getting a bit rickety in it's old age.

That is a lovely looking thing. I'm considering completely reworking mine at some point to hide the power underneath. The thing that puts me off this is the weight..

Looks lovely, but surely a Diago Gigman is more practical with the fitted lid?

Helwegs are custom made-ish. You can have what you want & that was just a pic nicked off Google for the purposes of drooling over.

Blimey a lot of cash though.

I was looking at getting one of these last year..

http://chemistrydesignwerks.com/holeyboard-standar...

However we could not make the shipping work so I got some ply and made a very basic version only drilling holes where I needed them to support my layout. As I have changed a few pedals this year it now has more holes in it! Ultimate flexibility though even it if is not very pretty.

Well, I've always had a penchant for light blue guitars, but haven't owned one for along time, so I've just bought one of these, a Korean made Strat type body in Daphne Blue for £130 incl P&P(a lot cheaper than a respray)

but of course I need a neck and the other bits, so bought one of these from eBay for £215

It's a '99 Mexican Strat with some after-market pickups (which I will be changing). The frets are looking a bit low so I will probably change those as well. The body is in very good condition so I'll put it on eBay along with the pickups, but even if they don't sell it should be quite an inexpensive project.
