I realise that. My point is that Rick Wright, who was an intrinsic part of Pink Floyd, has passed away.
I suppose you have to ask what is Pink Floyd? Is it the people or the music. What you are suggesting is because one of the members has died the remaining members can't use the name. So where does that put the Australian Pink Floyd who have none of the original members in its line up.

You're trying to imply far too much from what I said. I simply cannot see Gilmour and Mason performing as Pink Floyd without Rick Wright. I didn't mention Roger Waters or the use of the Floyd name.

I can't see them ever performing again as Pink Floyd without Rick Wright. I cannot imagine Gilmour and Mason wanting to perform live now that Rick Wright is no longer with them. He was such an intrinsic part of Pink Floyd's sound that it would be difficult for them both musically and emotionally.

Pink Floyd can confirm that they are releasing a new album "The Endless River" in October 2014. It is an album of mainly ambient and instrumental music based on the 1993/4 Division Bell sessions which feature David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright. The album is produced by David Gilmour with Phil Manzanera, Youth and recording engineer Andy Jackson. Work is still in progress, but more details to come at the end of the Summer.
Sounds amazing. I love The Division Bell and the though of something of a similar ilk, while a little more conceptual in approach, is a delicious prospect.Release date is 10 November 2014

ISTR Gilmour saying that he would drop a lot of Floyd material (such as 'Echoes') from his touring repertoire following Wright's death. That of course wouldn't count if the old Floyd nag was dragged from the retirement stable and flogged round the racecourse one last time.
I can't see Mason & Gilmour performing as The Floyd again. Having said that, 6 months ago I would have said we'd never have another Floyd album either. Alfahorn said:
