So, who has pre-ordered this? Checked on Amazon and was apparently #1 best seller in music.

My pre-order is in.

Apparently it is Amazon Uk's biggest ever pre-order album, although they are not revealing actual numbers.

Top 10

1. Pink Floyd, The Endless River
2. One Direction, Midnight Memories
3. Robbie Williams, Swings Both Ways
4. Take That, Progress
5. Susan Boyle, I Dreamed a Dream
6. Coldplay, Ghost Stories
7. David Bowie, The Next Day
8. Coldplay, X&Y
9. Take That, The Circus
10. Amy Winehouse, Lioness: Hidden Treasure

Someone suggest the chart is probably like that because of the older generation buying the CD where as kids will just download it once released.

And starting to get some good, and very thoughtful, reviews too

http://www.theguardian.com/music/2014/nov/06/pink-...

I like this bit best..."The Endless River offers long-time fans a chance to wallow in a lot of very, very Gilmouresque soloing, heavy on the yearning string-bends and his patented emotional shift from introspective melancholy to soaring euphoria"

Just finished listening to it. It falls short of epic, but is still a fitting finale to Pink Floyd. I was doing air guitar to Gilmour's solo on Louder than Words. Well done, boys.

Is there any comparison to Dave Gilmour's "On an Island" album from a few years ago?

Better than On an Island, which I found pretty lightweight all round. Endless River is still quite ambient in places, although Gilmour's guitar is never far away. It isn't 50 mins of 'Run Like Hell' though.
