As per title, Polly Sampson (Mrs Dave Gilmour), via Twitter, has said...."Btw Pink Floyd album out in October is called "The Endless River". Based on 1994 sessions is Rick Wright's swansong and very beautiful."

Is it new material from the day, or just another re-packaging exercise?

Hope it's the former biggrin

Wasn't that a line from The Division Bell?

I'm a massive Pink Floyd fan, I don't mind admitting I've shed a tear hearing this news. I just want an official announcement.

Pink Floyd are my first love in music, I've been a fan for 30+ years so this is truly magical news if true.

Sounds as though it is re-workings of unreleased recordings done around the time of 'The Division Bell'.

Fantastic news.

Looking forward to this then.

I am worried though that if ever they tour again the genuine fans are stuffed with tickets getting snapped up then resold at silly money. Would like to see them on the road again if that is their desire.

I can't see them doing a massive tour. They're all old men now and don't need the money, they'll earn a fortune from the release of this new album and if anything they will do a few nights in the Uk, Europe and America.

That was my concern, I did not expect a full on, just a few venues if one could but hope.

But, it is their lives, I would not blame them for not or expect them.

Well, The Who are touring this year aged 70 so you never know smile. I've got my tickets smile. I'd love to see David, Nick and maybe even Roger live again but feel I will have to make do with the excellent Aussie PF.

Aussie PF any good? I have seen the real ones twice, hard act to follow.

Seems appropriate to see a substitute band.

(Actually, I think there is another tribute act called that)

Edit - "Surrogate band" obv.

They follow the PF act brilliantly. I've got tickets for next year already at the NIA. Highly recommended.

Excellent, as are Think Floyd. Catch them whenever you can, you won't be disappointed.

I can't see them ever performing again as Pink Floyd without Rick Wright.

If you're around Cambridgeshire you might want to check out Learning To Fly. They're a PF covers band who were on before us at Soham Beer Fest on Saturday night, and seemed pretty good at what they do. Not sure they were what a drunk crowd were looking for though.
