I was just saying in the car that if this thread existed I'd say this song.

Also Nancy Sinatra: These Boots Were Made For Walking.

The outro solo on CAB's "Bernard", Tony Macalpine blows the doors off it here.

03:10 onwards. If there was just one snippet of music I was allowed to take to a desert island with me, it would be this.

Meatloaf - Bat Out Of Hell. Both the short version (the bike revving over the outro, although I always think it sounds like late 60s F1 cars for some reason) and the full version are both superb.

Not strictly an outro but on Gold Digging Wh0re by Steel Panther, they finish by all chanting/spelling the song title at full volume. Very funny.

Good call, I've got that. Brilliant song.
Thirded, I think I still have the CD single somewhere. Andy Bell is now with Beady Eye I think?

Come to think of it, I once played in a band where we did this as the big finish. It took me a month to learn it note for note. It is a pretty epic coda though.

Maybe a touch bad taste for some, but I judge the music on its own merit, not the member(s) of the band, the outro from lostprophet's Sway is amazing.
No, not bad taste for me - but I understand your reticence. I have ALL of LP's albums...and I was probably as sickened and startled as you when I found out the news! Some of my friends binned all their albums, and I get why.

But, I guess, that it wasn't the whole band involved - and also, the outro for Sway was written and performed before the outrage happened - so I kinda think is ok to still listen to? I love this album, and this song, and I still listen to it...

Anyway, mu vote for the coolest outro is Metallica - The Outlaw Torn

"Animal" by Vinny Vincents Invasion

Not anywhere near a Steve Vai/Joe satch virtuoso, but so raw and full of energy!!!

An unbelievably cheesey album, but I return to it every couple of years, still love it! The singers voice is a bit wrong

Third Stone from the Sun, Hendrix. He pretty much started this sort of thing.

I adore the way this song builds to climax, and always have done.

Numerous outros come to mind but one I really like is Little Richard's Slippin and a slidin ...

Saw him live at the Granada Walthamstow about 1962 ~ what a performer.

Surely the only real answer here is Freebird. 10 minutes of increasingly brilliant guitar work. Honourable mention to the live version of Boys are Back by Thin Lizzy too, even sounds pretty good when we covet it.
Free Bird? Are you sure? Some of the guitar work on that is extremely ropey, with wrong notes dropped all over the place. Even I'd be ashamed of bits of it.

No, for a tasteful guitar outro I'd nominate Wuthering Heights.
