That One Album
Discussion
On my own in the house earlier, I decided to rifle through my CDs for one to play loud whilst my wife was out. I chose Ten by Pearl Jam as I'd not listened to the full album for years, and sort of remembered that every track was a good 'un.
Sadly not. Most of the tunes are very strong, but there are a couple I don't get on with and it got me thinking.
Clarkson once said that Who's Next is the only album where he enjoys every single tune on it. So I thought of some of my favourite albums:
Rust In Peace
Vs
Texas Flood
Superunknown
Black Sabbath
Paranoid
Deep Purple In Rock
Led Zep II
Led Zep IV
Trespass
Foxtrot
I love all the above albums dearly, but they all have at least one track that's a bit - for me - average, let's say.
There is one, though, where - hand on heart - I can say I really like every single track :
So, what's your "failsafe" album? That one where every track for you is as good as the next?

I don't suppose you are a drummer... I'm looking for someone with your tastes!Vs

For me, I think its Paranoid, you mentioned it and I really don't think there is even a good song on there, they are all great to truly amazing.
Jason Becker's perpetual burn is pretty perfect but I think Paranoid takes it.
There are some close calls,
I want to say Guthries Erotic cakes, because its 99% perfect, but I can pretend I like his tongue in cheek country hillbilly shred...
Master Of Reality would be perfect but 'after forever' ruins what would be a perfect album - it should have been Weevil Woman!
Rainbow Rising is another, 'Run with the wolf' is ok as is 'do you close your eyes', but compared to the awesomeness of the other 4 tracks they bring the album down.

Appetite for Destruction - not a bad song on it , gotta be the best debut album ever!
I agree with this. However, liking every song on an album is usually a sign of every song on that album being near enough the same. (Yes ACDC, this does refer to you). Wouldn't you prefer one that tries to go in a few different directions at the same time?popegregory said:

Well you have to have the runners up first.
Best if you only want to listen to one side.
Steve McQueen - Prefab Sprout
Best if you want to edit out all the dross so its only one CD instead of a double.
Tusk - Fleetwood Mac
Best if you only want to listen to the best collection of pop songs in the world.
Parallel Lines - Blondie
Best for remembering when you were young, cool and ever so slightly aloof.
Rattlesnakes - Lloyd Cole & The Commotions
Best runner up
Bellybutton - Jellyfish
That One?
24 Years Of Hunger - Eg & Alice
