I heard it, nearly turned the radio off. I thought was more "st" from a band that has had it's day. Why Jo whiley was fawning over them I just don't understand.

"In response to a questioner who told him it was "rude" to impose their music upon everyone Anyone, Bono said: "Oops, I'm sorry about that."

Apple later released a one-click tool enabling iTunes customers to remove it the offending noise.

thats fair enough- so who do you think I should ditch this album and listen to instead?

I hated this album the first few times I heard it but it grew on my a lot -

Also been interesting watching my 14 year old son during this release - as its grabbed his attention too-
was never really into them before-
and now he is downloading all of their old stuff,-
and practicing ,U2 instead of his normal Bastille, Alt J and Kasabian on his guitar-

A good answer to my "hate"
I would need a lot more time to respond properly.
I have children myself, so I have listened to a lot of "their" music, as well as inflicting a lot of mine on them (educating them to a well rounded eclectic taste)
You asked "so who do you think I should ditch this album and listen to instead ?"
Let the PH massive answer that for us.
But I'll start with :-
REM
Jackson Browne
Neil Young
Van Morrison
Pink Floyd

But.......this is about ones own personal choice , so each to their own.

I still think modern incarnation of U2 are ste , and that pretentious cock "Bono" is just That
Anthemic crowd pleasing festival tunes, My arse. lets all wave our lighters in the air.

Bono is at a U2 concert when he asks the audience for some quiet. Then in the silence, he starts to slowly clap his hands. Holding the audience in total silence, he says into the microphone... "Every time I clap my hands, a child in Africa dies."
A voice from near the front pierces the silence... "Well, fking stop it then

Firstly
Pink Floyd
Rem
Neil Young and Van Morrison I all love and have all their
Albums - not got much Jackson brown -
Could say the same about all of the above- when they release music as they have all been around for while.

Second the story about Bono at that concert while funny is an old Internet myth and about 10 years old.

Finally i haven't liked much modern U2 either not really ever going back to bomb , no line or all the you can't
They are not terrible but just had too much filler

This is nothing like them and it's reminds me more of the original U2 than anything else

You've kind of already admitted the problem
Hating Bono makes it difficult to be really open minded about any U2 music any more
And that's fair enough but a lot of old U2 listeners are finding the same as me you only have to browse around on music forums to see it

But I think EBW live is as good as anything since Joshua Tree.

Regards

Fair nuff, we'll leave it here then shall we.

My most recent musical discovery is the singer "Iris Dement"

Allegedly the inspiration for the "Goo Goo dolls" song Iris.
This song itself is a great track.(In my own opinion of course)
