Fleetwood Mac go up on Friday morning, I'm interested in Buckingham really, so what's the betting on getting decent seats (for a decent price) for this?
What a piss take.

I'm on o2 so can get o2 tickets early, cheapest ticket is £50 then £65 then add 7.50 service fee per ticket and then a £1 venue for that goes to o2 to improve the o2 arena.

Wtf how can it cost £15 to process my order and post the tickets to me and surely fleetwood mac pay the venue so why the fk am i expected to also pay them?

I have given up with ticket master. It is all carved up already. Time for the various bands to get together and tell them to do one.

Yeah, I paid £28 quid 'service charge' for 2 tickets, plus another £2 'facility fee'. Bloody rip off. Then postage on top! £250 quid of tickets became almost £290!

for what , to take your credit card payment and then email you the tickets or post them.

i'm more and more tempted to wait and risk some cheap tickets off ebay or a tout at the venue and maybe pay less.

Really need to take a serious look at Ticketmaster and it's ilk mad
it starts with the promoter, who realises he has a asset worth far more than it's face value. the face value can't reflect the asset value as the artist doesn't want to be seen as ripping off the fans so most tickets are passed straight to reseller and never see general sale.

there was an investigation a few years ago. they got bri decided to let the industry police itself

what does gall is every time there something high profile the powers that be put on, from the olympics to the mayors fireworks show, they get all reactionary and protective about stopping the scourge of touts, like it's some isolated incident and not an industry wide problem.

Also says a lot about the scruples of the concert-going public today that most of them are quite happy to support the touting industry.

What option as a fan do you have other than pay it or miss out.

It's not a problem for big bands as most concerts have more fans who want to watch than tickets available, so those making a protest and not buying tickets , it makes no difference.

I know. But I am damned if I am going to get ripped off by these highway robbers. I do not know what the answer is and expect too many people with enough clout are making a mint here to deflect any meaningful input. Small voice in the wilderness me, probably never make a difference.

The only option really is to risk buying from a tout at the venue.

Wait until the concerts started then get the tickets cheap, I've done this in the states for basketball tickets and ended up with really good seats at less than list price.

Spot on!
The thing is that royalities from actual sold music is dying on it's arse (thank the CD for that - remember, the copy proof solution that would make piracy a thing of the past), so the only source of revenue now its touring - and they're going to milk it for all it's worth.

Fans?

I think ticket sales are too low on the radar for many and many fans will also exploit it to rip their fellow fans off. I also expect many "speculate" that are not fans and are also part of the problem.

Many years ago we were a ticket short for a rugby match in Cardiff (The old enemy), so you walk around looking for fans selling a spare. One group did indeed have one and the girl was trying to sell it for £10 (£2.80 face value!!!!!). Her mates took the ticket off her and asked for the face value telling her its bad to rip off your fellow fans. Pity that sentiment has gone.

If that's the case then you play bigger venues, the more people who watch you per night the more money for a nights work.

Trouble is though if your a band who sell out say a o2 sized venue but aren't big enough to do arenas or 2 nights at the o2 sized venues your trapped.

O2 sells out, fans moan but you can't play more nights or bigger venues to give more people a opportunity to see you.

Just picked up on the Fleetwood Mac concert in Manchester, June. My girlfriend likes them so I thought it might be a nice prezzie. Cheapest Stubhub for 2 reasonable tickets (lower tier mid-way round the arena) is £660. You read that right - and the concert isn't for 7 months. Really it's a disgrace this is allowed to happen. And don't give me the bks that it's a 'free market' or 'capitalism at work'- I defy anyone to claim that such profiteering is anything other than brazen greed. Penis cancer is too good for these s.

Looks like I'll be saving a bit of cash though. smile

They do go on general sale tomorrow morning if you fancy your chances.
You're always going to pay top whack on StubHub, but that's feckin outrageous.

For £660 I'd expect a fking helicopter to take me there!!!

How can they be sold on Stubhub if they're not on general sale yet?

The crux of the mater eh....!

smile

Some places did have pre-sales that started on Wednesday I think - usually O2 do something.

But you're right, StubHub will have tickets that are well ahead of any general release date, WatchDog covered the very subject when loads Rugby World Cup tickets were available at least 2 months before general release - I think that was it anyway.

I see.

There is no mention on the arena website when tickets go on sale for FM, but I'll give it a try sometime tomorrow if that's when it is. Thanks.

I did however spot M. Schenker playing at the Ritz in December for £30...that might do, lol.

The Mad Axeman himself - I'll be there myself for that one.
Saxon are on too on the 4th December - not a massive fan, but they did do a few good tunes.
