I've never yet heard a national anthem that has moving music. Most wouldn't be out of place at a funeral. I think ours is probably the best, but there is/are potential others that are better to replace it.

Ours is probably the dreariest of the lot. I'd swap it for the Italian one if I could.

Your joking surely. Our national anthem is the worst I know. I can't think of another as bad, apart from Liechtenstein, which is equally as dreadful.

I'm with the two posters above. Our's is just about the worst, not the best. Just as 3 examples, French, Italian and Russian are miles better. Perhaps the Italian one is best of all for being dignified but a bit jolly.

I agree ours is one if the best listening to 50,000 Welshmen blasting it out before a rugby match is quite moving.

The Brazilian one is quite jovial I haven't heard it for a while as Massa hasn't won a race.

Billy Connolly reckoned that the theme to The Archers would be more cheerful than GSTQ as the National Anthem

Just wait until you have to sing :

"I am of German blood" and "I will always be true to the King of Spain" at every fecking national Football match.

It's great to be Dutch.....

Pfft, GSTQ is dreary and as uninspiring as you'd expect a celebration of monarchy and religion to be.

Maybe when we have King Charles any last traces of enthusiasm for it will vanish and we can have something better

Bloody hell, I just Googled that just to make sure hehe

William of Nassau
am I, of Duytschen blood.
Loyal to the fatherland
I will remain until I die.
A prince of Orange
am I, free and fearless.
The king of Spain
I have always honoured.

That's almost as bad as us making the Scots sing about them being crushed!

I'd be happy with Land of Hope and Glory for the English national anthem. GSTQ has lost any real meaning for me.

For an English anthem I'd go for Jerusalem I think, but frankly most things would be an improvement

The Saffers have definitely got the best national anthem, by a mile.

Got to agree with that. 50,000 Welshman singing Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau - it's spine tingling.

So it's either Land of Hope and Glory or Jerusalem. I prefer the latter.

As a Welshman, I admire any Englishman who can stand on the pitch in the millennium stadium without running off crying while we sing ours. The loud gwlard bit always sends a shiver down my spine.
