I'm torn, I vowed many years ago not to watch another concert in a stadium, that clip you showed is 44 years old, and, in my opinion, their last great album is 40 years old!

Any other band 40 years past their prime.... play Butlins! smile

But, I would love to see them smile

Well I agree with you about stadiums but unless they're going to play at Ronnie Scotts for a year then there is no choice. As for their more recent albums, I think there's still some great music to be found on them, the title track from Everything Must Go for instance, still displays the cynical insouciance that we know and love.

My two favourite bands on the same bill and I will be going but like a lot of my favourite bands from the 70s why throughout the 80s did they become dormant whilst they were still in their prime. Obviously The Nightfly is great and so is Kamakiriad but not much live activity, zero Steely Dan activity. There are other great bands from the 70s who did the same.

Huge Steely Dan fan. I saw them at The Palms, Las Vegas in I think 2007. Superb.

Anyone know if they are bringing out an album to coincide with the gigs?

Having read Donald's Eminent Hipster's I think he spent most of the Eighties out of his mind on drugs.

Yeah I think Swivleyedgit alluded to that as well, Time Out Of Mind.

Rather laid back here, music don't get much better than this! McDonald's voice absolutely amazing, no wonder Becker and Fagen called him in on the Dan albums!

Thanks to PH for letting me know about this.

I have bought tickets for me and Dad to go - I haven't told him yet.

The fact that the Doobie Brothers are also going to be there will be brilliant; I first heard of both bands as a kid as Dad had the soundtrack of the film "FM" on tape so always had it in the car.

Couple of beers and a bit of food beforehand - should be good! Haven't got the best seats though - top tier I think and looking side on.

I've had Can't buy a Thrill on heavy rotation lately, Baxter and Dias were just the most fabulous guitarists, just listen to Baxter's break on Midnite Cruiser cloud9
