The Wonderstuff did the same after 8 legged groove machine and HUP - Never Loved Elvis was commercialised for the masses (some might call it selling out )
Oh yes indeed, I really liked the first two then it just seemed to go very wrong. Its just nature. Bands have years and years to get the ideas and themes for the first couple of albums, then its 1 a year or so and not many can be so creative. Add this to the fact that musicians need to eat/have somewhere to live and the general mellowing as we age, music loses the edge of young men.
I commented about the last Elbow album that A happy Guy Garvey isn't good for the albums.

My favourite Manchester scene band from the 90's, the Inspiral Carpets have released a new album this month. I heard a few tracks thought that although their style is exactly the same, it was pretty poor. It's not the 90's anymore and they are not in their 20's anymore. Some bands who are always around evolve over time, the ones that disappear and come back 20 years later, often try to pick up exactly where they left off. Often without the magic or mood from their time.
Same as the Roses. The Second Coming took too long, missed their niche and was pretty naff IMOThe Mondays should have stopped after 24 hour party people. Pills and thrills was commercial chart rubbish without their earlier rawness (Think Step On compared to Hallelujah)

More up to date, I loved the Arctic Monkeys first 2 albums but though that their 3rd was poor. However they seem to have returned to form
Agree with the Gallaghers though - just give it up. I never really even liked Oasis tbh
I'm not having the Mondays though, Bummed (you are writing off Wrote for Luck !?) and Pill N Thrills are both great albums, the last one they did (cant remember the name now - that's bad)
My nomination - Paul Weller should have packed it in after Stanley Road

Me too, before the masses caught up. The Reindeer Section is also worth a listen and, IMHO, better than SP's later stuff.
I could forgive quite a lot for Starfighter pilot and last lone gunman. I bough Fallen empires for a couple of quid a while ago, not listened to it yet. Will check Reindeer Section out.
Re. Rush. I really liked Counterparts and Snakes and arrows. In fact i am listening to Snakes and arrows right now.
Can I also Give an honourable mention to Yes.

Oh yes indeed, I really liked the first two then it just seemed to go very wrong.Black Stone Cherry. Two (slightly) stand out songs on their latest album, but as all the tracks sound the same it's really splitting hairs to honestly claim any stand out. The band is basically Creed-lite, but without any of the talent (again - subjective). TBH the band really should go their separate ways and try again.
Unfortunately I've got tickets for Manchester on Friday as Big Sue likes them. She doesn't know it yet, but we won't be staying for any encore. An Indian in Rusholme beckons.
