Pearl Jam - Yellow Ledbetter

Not my kind of music really, but Adele performimg 'Someone Like You' at The Brits a few years ago is pretty moving, mainly because you believe every word of it and she gets pretty emotional herself.

I heard Bridge over Troubled Water tonight for the first time in years, that's certainly a profound and thought-provoking one.

I hate that song.

Probably the first song I remember, for all the wrong reasons.

Cats in the cradle - Harry Chapin
This one gets me every time.

I've worked away for years and when I'm traveling, generally listen to oldies stations.

This will invariably pop up usually when I'm driving around Pennsylvania (again)and won't be home for a few months to see anyone.

The best of times by dream theater always gets me. It's about the death of his father. A very positive feeling song but it just strikes a very strong chord with my emotions!

Drive home by Steven Wilson. Similar theme, but I simply cannot watch the video. It's brilliant. But I struggle to focus on the screen through the tears tongue out

There's bound to be others, disappear by dream theater or at last, forever by Jethro Tull make me sad.
Basically anything about a loved one dying does it for me!

Sunnyside by kaki king is very good for a break up song though.

Driving to work the other day and this came on the radio - Jamie Lawson's I Wasn't Expecting That.

Unusual for me to have tears rolling down my face on my morning commute. Watching the video subsequently didn't help either.

Puff the magic dragon used to make me sad/cry as a child. Can't think of anything that has since then.

Old man, Neil Young. Reminds me of my dad ,all though my dad wasn't old when passing. He didnt listen to Neil Young either. The lyrics in that song just make me think of him.

Eddie Vedder, long nights. Gets me every time

Brothers in arms, Dire Straits. This was music my dad liked a lot, we played it at his funeral.

Slayer, most song now. Since the passing of Jeff Hanneman listening to slayer gives me goose bumps and a tear in my eye.

Music by dead artists, this makes me well up a bit, John Martyn, Johhny Cash, the doors, Jimi Hendrix

One that did it for me when I first heard it was Alphaville with "The things I didn't do" not sure when it was originally released but heard it when a few other songs hit the playlists at the time including "let me go" by Gary Barlow and Pssengers "Let her go"

All in all a period I never want to repeat.
